Anglican and Catholic schools (and a few associated with other groups) are part of normal state school provision in the UK (in other words they're tax-funded rather than fee-paying).

Here in Australia we have both - in fact we have some schools of other denoms (Presbyterian, Methodist etc) as well. I daresay there are Episcopalian, Presbyterian or Methodist schools in the US as well.

They're fee-paying in the US, though, aren't they?

Probably. Here they receive a lot less government funding (meaning the fees are a little or a lot higher) than the state schools.

They're just part of ordinary school provision in the UK - they're usually popular and can get over-subscribed, so 'lapsed' Anglican and Catholic families tend to get observant about the time that their children get to school age (or transfer to High School age)!

Hehe. Our religious schools are quite variable in quality (at least among the Catholic schools). Naturally competition for the top schools is fierce, but I don't think how observant the parents are necessarily plays a huge factor - the school would be more worried about scholastic aptitude of the child, and (unfortunately) how rich the parents are.

Yes, we have Episcopalian/Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran and even Baptist schools in the US to name just a few.
God Bless!

Oh yes.
But they never work out that we know how to spot them and what they're really up to.
Our government also says that faith schools are the best.

Re: Do the Anglicans have Anglican schools in England?
My daughter lived in England for three years and all her children went to private Catholic schools. They are very expensive. Her children were in, I believe, kindergarten and 2nd grades to begin with. She has triplets plus one and the cost with a discount was over $40,000 a year.
She could have sent them to the public Catholic school, but she said the ones she looked at were so old and sad looking. She was very fortunate to have the finances to keep them in a private school.
The Catholic school they went to was very strict, but her children got a very good education. I have no idea if the Catholic schools that are public are as good or if they are allowed to teach the faith. Maybe someone here knows what the rules are.
I know they have Anglican schools in England, of course Anglicanism is the state religion there. I noticed that the Catholic churches were pretty full. There were many children who made their first communion with her children. I was quite impressed.
Yours in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

Re: Do the Anglicans have Anglican schools in England?
My son & daughter both go to Anglican schools, which are state schools and are excellent.
As East Anglican rightly recognises, faith schools in England and Wales are considered to be generally better than non faith schools, hence the over subscription. Peversely many in British society seek to remove faith schools from state funding - in other words make them private & fee paying - which in my opinion would be a travesty.
