Exercise Support Thread Week of 4/12/2009
Happy Easter, everyone!
Welcome to a new week. It's time to set our goals for the week. I'll be shooting for 23 miles, including an 11 mile long run. I won't be running today, Easter Sunday. I didn't get out of church until 12:30 AM last night, after arriving there at 4 PM. I'm tired. And we're having a large crowd over today. So I plan to do my long run on Wednesday.

Re: Exercise Support Thread Week of 4/12/2009
Hi Michael ....hey, where is everyone?
Well...I guess I'll report what I did today, and please help me to keep coming in here...it has always been good for me...keeps me on pace.
I did a 45 minute pilates workout today...it was intermediate. I was like, is that it? When it was over, but now...about an hour later...I'm so sore! lol I can imagine how tomorrow will be...I really think I'm going to like this machine. I'm used to doing 'normal' ab work, on the floor...you know crunches, and the like. This machine puts you into different positions to sort of work your core the entire time, and you're not realizing how much you're using your tummy muscles...but, holy cow. I guess my core is a bit weak. That is one area that I'd like to have strong. As we age, our core affects everything...our posture, bones, back...
I also did a quick cardio warm up. Tomorrow, I'm going to do a light jog around the nature trail, I think. Planning to mix up the pilates to 3 to 4x per week, and cardio 3 x per week, joining with one day of the pilates.
Hope everyone has a happy Easter!

Re: Exercise Support Thread Week of 4/12/2009
Hi Guys,
Finished Fit for Eternal Life book..Enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone interested in health and exercise.
I am continuing to workout 4-5 days (during my lunch hour) at the office. We have a pretty nice workout room with aerobic and weight machines and good amount of free weights. I am trying to add a little more weight to my sets every week.
Funny little story. Due to budget cuts, like everywhere else, our company had to cut out a few perks. We've lost our private showers and now we all have to share the bigger locker room and showers. Although I am happy to have a job and a place to workout for free, it's a little weird to talk business with your boss after he walks out of the shower and you're only wearing a towel. Hey Simon, any movement yet with ABC Company? Not polite not to look at the person talking to you, but, really? Ah, Boss, think we can discuss this later upstairs, maybe when we're all wearing clothes?
All take care and keep on doing your routines!

Re: Exercise Support Thread Week of 4/12/2009
Hello there everyone...
I am so tired from the recent move, that i am just going to continue from here. I had to keep hitting the links to find you guys after many weeks. Never were you guys forgotten though, as this is a wonderful group here, and i love being here.
I have been doing a heavy amount of work, but not planned workouts. Maybe the darn ladder for painting can be catagorized as step arobics...(please?) From repairing holes, sanding, installing ceiling fans, painting and shampooing one room per day...it took me a week to do everything except my living room. The move started a day early on me, so now i have to wait untill i am unpacked totally before i can attempt this last room.
The kicker is this, again for the third move i have made since i moved back to Ontario, not a single soul helped me paint or get ready. Not that i felt i should expect them too. Butt, i have been there for everyone of my friends, and brother who lives across the street from me. NO ONE showed up. I was heart broken in many ways, but i got over it i guess.
I can not eat much, as the past week i was without money and supplies to bring to the new place with me...so when i got home, i was so tired, i ate a sandwich, and flopped on the bed after a shower. Sent the kids off the next day, and walked to the new place to start again.
I hired a teenager we knew (age 15...6 foot 4, and strong) to help my husband move furniture. They worked for 10 hours on moving day shuffeling things from three different places. I paid him 10 bucks an hour...nearly killed me financially, but i simply could not have lifted these things on my own.
Buttt...all said and done, i lost 13 lbs, and a size of clothing...and a smaller apitite.
And yes, i am eating more healthily now. We moved from a 2 bedroom basment to a 3 bedroom ground level, seperate entrance apartment. SOOOOO much more space, i love it. 15 windows, each one the same size...40 inches wide, 60 long.
(twas an old high school...hence the line up of windows)
missed you guys!
Lana

hahaha so? what's the problem?
We have a nice workout area too...I just don't like rushing at lunch....I used to workout during lunch but then stopped. It stinks...it's pouring rain here today, and I don't like to jog in the rain...soooo...looks like my spinning bike will have to do. I hope everyone has a great day!
I'd like to check out the book you mention--is it sold in borders, etc?

HI Lana;
Moving stinks...ugh, we moved twice in two years...and I'm still feeling it. You know, that is a workout in itself, housework, moving...I am praying that things go smoothly for you in your new residence. I am sorry no one helped...we are glad you are back.

Re: Exercise Support Thread Week of 4/12/2009
Hi all! And Lana, the move sounds like a step up. Also sounds like the move was gracious on your waistline.
I am sorry no one helped you move. You have had this burden so many times in the past few years. Hopefully this is the very last time for a long haul.
You helped me realize that I need to be there for a new friend I met at church. She is alone in a new town and struggling to move to a different apt. She has many physical problems and her family is just too busy to help out. Sad. I think I shall give her a call.
Thanks for opening my eyes. May God bless you in your new homestead.

Howdy Folks.
I'm pretty new to this website. I have done some lurking in the past, and finally joined last week.
I stumbled upon this thread, and thought what a great idea.
I have really fallen of track with exercise, as I have asthma and am somewhat limited as to what I can do.
My goal for this week is to walk my dog around the block once on three seperate days.

Re: Exercise Support Thread Week of 4/12/2009
Baby steps are all too important for those unable to conform to a routine that is physically near impossible. But i do not give up, and hope for clarity on this issue over time for myself. If funds become more regulated, i can manage the "Y".
They have a few water excercise programs i think i can tollerate (low impact).
I pray...

I'm right there with you Rammy. I would really love to join the YMCA. I had a membership a long time ago, and had to discontinue it when I went from full time to part time work.
My progress for week:
One walk with the dog so far.
Baby Steps.

Re: Exercise Support Thread Week of 4/12/2009
LOL...finally a member at my speed...not that the others are not cool too.
But sometimes my list is so tincy next to 26 miles, kick boxing, and a few others.
I break out in a sweat wondering the reaction from my own body to this movement.
Sweat and hard work i do not mind...but i quake at pain infliction on my self.
So cool you did one walk...so this is not a zero, it is a plus one...excellent!
