[I...can't...stop...myself....]

Gotta tell ya, any white or light colored mammal can get sunburnt; therefore, it's best not to shave your long-haired dog or cat down in the warm weather--it exposes the skin to the sun whereas a well-groomed longer coat will shade the skin as well as act as insulation to actually keep them cooler.

[sorry the "Doctor" part of my name overcame me ]

From Marfran: Doc--please jump in any time!!! I appreciate the help and expert opinion/knowledge!!!!

OK, Adrienne5678--this must be a TRICK question, or a RIDDLE????

The Doc is correct. Exposure to ultraviolet radiation with cause sunburn in animals as well as humans. It is less common in the midwest than in sun belt states, but it does happen, especially to dairy cows who often have large patches of white hair. (And other animals with a majority white coat.)

So Adrienne5678--did we get your TRIVIA question right??? Or are you looking for something else????
