There are tones of Bible translations out there on bolth sides of the fence. The Catholic Church and the Protestant side. What are some of your favorites?

Re: Bible translations
Here I will start. I prefer the NRSV-CE for a Catholic Bible. But as far as a protestant Bible goes I have two prefferences ESV, and Life Application Study Bible NLT.

Re: Bible translations
I have the hebrew text, and the greek received text in parallel with the Authorized version. I haven't used it much. I don't read or write either greek or hebrew, but the reference work is helpful when finding the original wording of particular verses.
I use a Strongs Concordance along with a King James bible. I have an RSV which was given to me when I was very young, but it has several ommissions. The RSV translation is a little better in places, but it lacks the hebrew terms which were left in the text of the KJV, which is rather obfuscating.

The NIV with the study guide with or without the Apocrypha (it doesn't matter)

Re: Bible translations
The Bible that I turn to the most is the NRSV.
God Bless!

Yes, it is the commonly available version of the Douay-Rheims. It is very different from the original Douay though, so I have a habit of calling it the Challoner version, or Douay-Rheims Challoner Version.

I use NIV study bible, but many a times I miss on some of the readings in the church as they are not included in my Holy Bible. Its 66 books instead of the normal Catholic Bible.
One question geometer, could you be kind enough to tell me the original readings of Genesis chapter 1 verse 1 and 2, what does it say on the Hebrew and Greek Bible? Pls.
Thanks
