Exercise Support Thread Week of 6/7/2009
Welcome, one and all, to the new week of exercise. As always, we begin the week by setting goals. My goals are light this week. I plan to run 15 miles: 3 miles per day, Monday - Friday. I'm taking today off to rest from yesterday's half marathon.

Michael, well done on completing your half marathon and beating your previous time.
Today I got to the pool at last. Swam my usual 30 minutes, although I know I was swimming slower than usual. The water is warming rapidly now and is just a little cooler than tepid. Things are looking good to swim twice more this week and maybe I'll see how busy the pool is over the weekend. (Especially as we no longer have to work on Saturday.)

Vivienne, do you like the warmer water?
I went back to my regular routine today. I ran 3 miles on the treadmill, despite complaints from my legs. They're still sore from the half marathon.

Re: Exercise Support Thread Week of 6/7/2009
Hello...I'm here to post tonight. I'm trying to stay focused, but the past few weeks...I have been in a sad way. I did my pilates routine earlier today--I had the day off from work. It was great. My goals for the week are to do pilates 4x, and walk/jog 3x. Maybe hit 9 miles with the walking/jogging part.
A looong term goal for next fall is to walk with coworkers of mine -- the 3 day cancer walk, which totals 60 miles. I already threw it out there to the team leader, I have a feeling she will hold me to it.
God bless you Michael, and Vivienne...nice to see you both.

I'd prefer the water a little cooler than it is, in some ways its more tiring to swim in warm water. I don't like the kind of water that takes your breath away and if you keep still for half a minute you start to feel icy. It's hard here, in the summer to keep the water cool though. They do cool it (and in winter heat it) but yesterday the incomming water was not much cooler than the pool water. Where I swim at home they heat the water too much in winter (an indoor pool) and its really difficult to swim for half an hour.
Be kind to your legs - they did you proud on Saturday.

Re: Exercise Support Thread Week of 6/7/2009
Hey, Sharon, good to see you again. I heard that people who work out will be happier for up to 12 hours after their workout. So, if you work out every 12 hours, you can shake off that sadness.

Much better than I expected. I was able to run the entire distance without stopping or walking. The weather was perfect: overcast and cool. I finished in 1:55, three minutes under my goal.

Ok, then. I'll have to workout every 12 hours. I'd be super skinny too! In all seriousness, working out somehow takes our minds off the blues, when we have them. I think it's because of the seratonin secretion when we are working out, mixed with the endorphins. Plus, ever notice how focused you get when you're running...or lifting weights...etc? Your mind can't focus on negativitiy AND trying to get your exercise done.

Re: Exercise Support Thread Week of 6/7/2009
beeeeeep...this is a test....finally get online, find you guys, pour my heart out in a post to you guys, and i was not permitted entry due to the length of time i was away!
I just don't have it in me to type the story again...Sad, mad, tired, frustrated, broke, and desperate kinda sums it up...lol
I guess god says skip the details, and lean on him instead of whineing about it.
Trying hard to do parts of my daughters Turbo Jam she got for her birthday in May.
Not intentionally, but with the dislexia we both have, but mine more in controle over the years...she is incredibly confused over the right left, front back. She can not seem to mirror the movements, and does them backwards. So i am helping her...aka doing a lot of it too. There is no jumping/high impact though...so except for getting my knee in my nose like the trainer does...well i am the dough boys version of it...comical.
Actually...it is THE most excercise i have gotten in 10 years.

I did it! Hit the bike class, went to TKD, & hit 2,400 cals on the money!
Today is my weakly fall-apart day. It always seems to be Wednesday that starts the downhill slide. Extra prayers for me today please.
