Ladies, how many of you drive barefoot?
Hi there -
How widespread (if at all) is this?
I can't manage to drive with my slip-on sandals, as they tend to slip off, so I just drive without them.
Anybody else? Or am I an "outlier"?

Re: Ladies, how many of you drive barefoot?
I'm too afraid of eight-legged critters hding in the dark to drive barefoot. One might get me on the toe. It used to be - and may still be -illegal to drive barefoot here, so I never got in the habit.

Hahaha
Sandles are difficult, but I just deal-the car is pretty old and DH drives in his dirty tenis shoes, never know where they have been.
I actually like driving in heals better that flat shoes-for some reason it is easier for me, better angle maybe?

Tried it once....no thanks. I wear flip flops everywhere not that it is summer though, so that is pretty close.

I don't, but DH does. Says he can 'feel' the car through the soles. Like he's a car whisperer, or something.

I'm a "full coverage" gal myself. Though I might remove them if I've been in heels all day.

Re: Ladies, how many of you drive barefoot?
Nope. The texture of the pedals tickles too much for me. Though other times, barefoot is the best way to go!

Re: Ladies, how many of you drive barefoot?
It's illegal where I grew up. I'm also afraid that if I had to hit the brakes fast, I wouldn't be able to do it as hard if I were barefooted.
The biggest factor is my height. With out a good thick sole, I cannot reach the pedals!

Re: Ladies, how many of you drive barefoot?
I don't drive barefoot, my feet are pretty small, it's hard to 'grab' the pedal, you know what I mean? Probably why it is not legal, I would imagine, one's foot could slip too easily. But, how many of you drive in your pajamas, like to drop your kids off to school, or something? I'm guilty of that. I sometimes have an unmatched set on, as well...I always pray I never have to get out of the car for any reason!

It is not illegal to drive barefooted. I remember a cop came to our high school and was talking about driving safety and asked how many of us thought driving barefooted was illegal. He then went on to say that most people believe that its illegal but it is not.
I usually don't drive barefooted but I have after a long night in heels.
Flip-flops are supposed to be a driving hazard so I've heard.

Might be dating myself, but in the day when I was learning to drive, it was illegal. My best friend even got a ticket for it!

Re: Ladies, how many of you drive barefoot?
I took drivers ed in the 1994. Our instructors told us it was illegal.
I've tried it a few times. It just feels wrong. I don't drive as well. I feel like I don't have as much control or something. I usually wear shoes with big thick soles on them so I've normally got a lot of stomping power.

Re: Ladies, how many of you drive barefoot?
I don't drive barefoot, but when I was learning to drive I had a hard time gauging how much pressure to put on the pedals, and being able to actually feel them under my foot helped immensely. I would take my right shoe off whenever I practiced, so I quickly got the feel of the pedals and could gauge how much pressure to apply. In the years since getting my permanent licence though, I've never driven barefoot.

Re: Ladies, how many of you drive barefoot?
I prefer driving and walking with my shoes on. My feet are only size seven, so I need something solid on them to make them stick to the ground.
My father likes to drive barefoot in the summer time, though. But his feet are absolutely huge, so there is no way his feet would ever slip off the pedals.
