Lord, When You Came to the Seashore
Hi
Just wondering if anyone knows (and could provide) the lyrics for "Lord, When You Came to the Seashore" It is one of my favorite songs and need the lyrics this week for a recording I'm doing for my Gramma (before i can go to church again next Sunday and look them up myself). If anyone has the time and is willing to provide the lyrics for me I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks,
M

Re: Lord, When You Came to the Seashore
Found these:
Quote:
Lord, You have come to the seashore
Neither searching for..........the rich nor the wise,........
desiring only...........that I should follow.
Refrain:
O Lord, with your eyes set upon me,
gently smiling, you have spoken my
name;
all I longed for I have found by the
water. At your side,......................
I will seek other shores.
Lord, see my goods, my possessions;
in my boat you find............no power, no wealth.............
Will you accept then............my nets and labor? Refrain
Lord,.......take my hands and direct them
Help me spend myself in seeking the lost,.......
returning love for.................the love you gave me. Refrain
Lord,..........as I drift on the waters...............
be the resting place..........of my restful heart,...........
my life's companion,...........my friend and refuge.....

Re: Lord, When You Came to the Seashore
I like this song too... my parish often uses the English lyrics, and then the refrain in Spanish.

Re: Lord, When You Came to the Seashore
There are two versions of the song. The first is "Lord, When You Came to the Seashore," and the second is, "Lord, You Have Come."
The lyrics posted in the first reply look to belong to the second named song. I know the first two (English) verses by heart, but the others, I would have to see in a hymnal.
Lord, when You came to the seashore,
You weren't seeking the wise or the wealthy,
But only asking that I might follow.
(Chorus)
O Lord, in my eyes you were gazing,
Kindly smiling, my name you were saying.
All I treasured, I have left on the sand there,
Close to you, I will find other seas.
Lord, you knew what my boat carried,
Neither money, nor weapons for fighting.
But nets for fishing, my daily labor.
(Chorus)
It's my favorite hymn!
