Default Should gay people be forgiven for their sins?

If you disagree with homosexuality - should gay people who repent be forgiven? For example, if a gay man or woman decided to live as celibate but succumbed to temptation?

Sure they should. As long as they strive to live a celibate life.

It is a central teaching of the Church that those who sincerely repent can be forgiven. Keep in mind that sincere repentance requires that a person truly intends to change and to do their best, with the help of God's grace, not to repeat the sin they are repenting of.

Of course a person who has engaged in homosexual, or illicit heterosexual activities for that matter, can be forgiven, but only if their intent is to no longer commit those acts.

The same 'rules' of reconciliation and forgiveness apply to every.single. person. Without exception. It's not for us to decide who SHOULD be forgiven since God has already decided that everyone can be. His Mercy is ABUNDANT and more than enough for all the sins of all the people throughout time. It goes for people who commit sexual sins, people who murder, rape, pillage, cheat, lie and steal, the whole sorry lot.

Even gay people who practice should be forgiven, nobody here is without sin and I am not going to say that homosexuality is worse than pre-marital sex. Ranking of sins is God's job, not mine.

Personally, I find this question offensive. Why single out just one group of people? Just so you know, I would be just as offended if the question were "Should fornicators/murderers/liers/thiefs/the prideful pharisees...etc be forgiven for their sins?"

To answer this question, and the other one I posed.... if they are repentant and are trying their best to no longer sin, then a loud resounding YES, OF COURSE!!!! Who am I (or anyone but God) to judge the state of someone's soul?

Should people who presume to set guidelines for God's forgiveness be forgiven?

A simple word substitution should give you your answer.

If you disagree with STEALING - should THIEVES who repent be forgiven? For example, if a THIEF decided to live HONESTLY but succumbed to temptation?

Peace

Or perhaps: If you disagree with DENYING GOD - should ATHEISTS who repent be forgiven? For example, if a an ATHEIST decided they were wrong all along and decided to live worshiping God, but succumbed and denied Jesus?

Yes! the Church forgives sinners as long as the basic criteria is met.
Where would we all be without God's Forgiveness.

Of course she does! However, it's stewards do need do determine who's sincerely asking for forgiveness and who's really asking for permission.

All sins are forgiven by God if one asks and repents.

There is only one unforgivable sin...

Sorry - have to disagree with you here. Neither homosexual nor pre-marital acts which are continued without repentence are forgiven.

If there is an honest attempt to stop the behavior, but the person falls and repents then they can be forgiven (by a priest).
