Since we have a few people in here who would like to become Dominican Laity (myself included) but don't have a nearby chapter...
Have any of you been involved in starting a Dominican Laity chapter from scratch (not having joined an existing chapter)? What were your experiences? How did you attract new members? |

I was actually one of the first members of a newly formed group. It was started by two life-professed members (which I think is required) who wanted a chapter closer to home. They actually advertised in the Church bulletins of the surrounding churches inviting those who might be interested to an hour or two long informational meeting about the lay Domicans.
If I remember correctly, I don't think they had a large enough membership in the beginning to actually become a Chapter, so they kept it informal, while still belonging to their other chapter, until the numbers grew. I hope this helps. |

I'm currently in a Chapter-in-Formation. In order for a In-Formation Chapter to become a full Chapter, they need at least ten Life Professed members. So far were at two. But within the next four years we will, by the grace of God, have eleven.
