Obtain the gentle understanding and warm companionship of others to nurture the stricken heart and lead it towards hope and new life. Sustain it with faith and bring it to true generosity of spirit even in its sorrow and loneliness.

Loving God, have pity on that terrible grief, that chasm of loss, the emptiness that stretches before the bereaved as they embrace their dead in their desolate hearts.

Please pray for us. While we hope/believe our loved ones are in in the Lord's embrace and are happy for them, it sometimes gets difficult for those left behind. Please pray for our strength to handle things, particularly on those days that we miss them the most, on anniversaries, thru the holidays, birthdays & some days, just because.

We thank you for the many blessings in our lives and today we especially thank you for the blessing of a rewarding and holy marriage with the love and personal growth that it afforded us. We lift up our intentions today on behalf of all suffering persons who have temporarily lost their life partner in this life, that they may be comforted by Your consoling and warm Holy Spirit in their times of despair, feelings of incompleteness, and anxiety. Lord, we have all seen this pattern many times when one loving spouse passes on to greater things and the spouse or children are devastated by the loss. Please help these dear people to channel their feelings into something positive in the form of prayer, good works to benefit your people, pursuit of a life long dream yet unrealized, or just being a good parent to their children which is so needed in this day. It is easy for many of us, including me, to imagine how this loss feels, it is not so easy to be a source of comfort and outreach to those who are going through the experience. Lord, having watched the decline of my dear mother in law after the lost of her husband, I ask that you help each of us to be a source of positive energy and love to those who have lost their life partner and to help them, in small ways and others ways, to find the next plan You have for their life.

We pray in the name of your beloved son Jesus, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.

Merciful Lord, please embrace our brothers and sisters who have no earthly family—through death, separation, alienation, or displacement. Give them opportunities for a satisfying life. Allow them companionship with others, and lead them by avenues that will give them eternal communion with the family of Heaven.

Deepen our awareness of human fraternity with everyone, so that we may convey to anyone—who may have no close family, nor any particular attachments—that we are brothers and sisters in Christ, and that they are lovable and loved persons.

Loving Jesus, to the unmarried or divorced, please grant grace to live in enjoyment of happy and chaste relationships. Let them fulfil the tasks individually intended for them in prayerful acceptance of Your gospel according to their true vocation.
