Free magazines?
One thing the Jw's are good at is that they keep their members in line with their WTS publications which is absolutely free to their members and to those who are interested. Why cant we? it would become a household item to almost every catholic to strengthen their faith, and of course, for faith defending purposes, because sadly, only about 1/8 of us are fully educated with the catechisms of our church, thus, many fall away due to poachers.

You must be joking! Everything is free. Nothing is hidden from Catholics. As a former protestant, you would be LEFT BEHIND if you couldn't afford the book that lets you know who the antiChrist is and the signs of the end times.
I find the total opposite is true in the Catholic Church. We don't need to sell truth. When there is only One Truth, it's available to ALL. No one has the market on God's Truth. Everything Catholic is available online. Try finding protestant books and resources online for free.
Huge difference between Protestant authors I have met and Catholic authors I have met....
Guess which ones live in the mansions and drive super expensive cars?

Re: Free magazines?
You can find a lot of free books on Saints' Books.
I sometimes try to acquire old Catholic magazines that various religious organizations put out.
Nowadays the quality is well, often lacking, so it isn't worth collecting much of what is put out.
Still there are some newsletters worth signing up for. It takes donations to support any of the above.
So a modest fee for some of the better magazines one should not be afraid of. But I do agree a great deal more should be done for spreading around Catholic literature at low cost or for free.
It certainly would be a better cause than most others. I personally think the best cause is spreading around the writings of the saints as far and wide as possible, in as many translations and forms as can be accomplished for those who have not heard them.

One thing to remember is that the JW'S are a non Christian cult and needs to constantly reinforce its erroneous teaching on its members.
The Catholic Church is the Truth. And Her resources are all but unlimited in regard to information.
I do agree with you in your assessment of the numbers of non informed Semi-Catholics that can easily be lured away by REV. FEELGOOD and his prosperity teaching.
We as the laity are in the front trenches and need to start living in such a way that secular onlookers see something in us asCatholics that they want also. If we are not able to pull this off, "shame on us".

A couple of years ago I had done a search on the internet for Free Catholic Books and the site you posted never came up. The Knights of Columbus does have different "free" booklets for Bible Study ect. that they will send to a person for free. They have many Free Booklets too. Go to their site and check it out. http://www.catholic.org/kofc/

Re: Free magazines?
Here in Ireland we have "Alive", an unapologetically Catholic monthly newspaper full of interesting articles. It is free and tends to be left in the Church porch for anyone to take. I believe its delivered to homes in some areas.

Re: Free magazines?
I am amazed at the amount of "free" Catholic information available. IMHO many people either are lacking in how to find the material or simply don't want to invest the time. The internet has made it really easy to get the info. Now we have to do something with it. This sight is great for finding the truth. Take care and interesting post. Thanks

Re: Free magazines?
One can access This Rock online for free. The issues are just delayed. It is the printing that costs money and that money must come from somewhere. If one knows of someone who could benefit from a subscription, it makes a great gift. But CA can not print the magazine if they do not have money and if the subscription were free, they would not have the money.

Re: Free magazines?
Maybe i did not mention the proper context. Here in the Philippines, ( the only Christian and CATHOLIC country in Asia) 75% are below poverty line where no "free" literature aside from sermons given by priests are available, and only a (very) few are properly educated or just uninterested in learning Catholic catechism. You can hardly see literature, or anyone giving out atleast some leaflets. Its just my concern that many may and have fallen to superstition, which is a target for JW poaching and attacks. At least for a change, we can give these poor souls some literature of our own to hit them back.
no subscription
no payment
just pure charity
But thanks for your replies, i'll check these items out
Godbless.

JW's are expected to give a donation for their literature, not free. Lazy, JW's leave mags laying around public places so they can claim to meet their witnessing quotas.

I know what you are saying. I have family who are JW's and a friend who stops by on a regular basis who is also a JW and so far I have been given the hardback version of their Bible as well as a pocket sized one and their magazines. I have searched the sites for similar articles or magazines on the Catholic faith, most require some kind of fund, or if it says free, you are charged for shipping which to me does now make it free. And when you don't have the funds that leaves a lot of people out in the cold from learning the truth. I know it cost to print these materials, yet YWHW gave us the word free, freely he gave and freely we have received. Should we not do the same in order to help those who cannot afford even the smallest priced article or magazine? However, thanks to kindle I have found some books I have downloaded for free. And to think, a few short years ago I didn't even have a computer in the house or internet. Where would I be without it now?
