Worldly people delight in things only of this world and have no remorse for their actions, no matter how sinful the nature of it is.

Godly people, even though not perfect, strive for perfection through delight of things not of this world and shun their sinful nature.

I heard this enlightening story once. I'll share it with you. I hope you weren't being sarcastic.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan
25On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
26"What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"

27He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'[c]; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[d]"

28"You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."

29But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

30In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. 35The next day he took out two silver coins[e] and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'

36"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"

37The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him."
Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

And check your attitude.

The Beatitudes
1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
3 “ Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you

...and priorities. Matthew 25. Christo-centric as opposed to ego-centric. We are called to be in the world not of the world. Do we use the many gifts - spiritual and material - that we have been given responsibly for the good of all, seeing Christ in everyone, or gather them up for the good of ourselves?

God bless.

I think of it this way, it's like the difference between someone who is blinded by money, who doesn't realize the meaning and role of money, and only works to hoard more and more, for the sake of money alone, and the person who understands money for what they really are.

The first one might die a very unhappy man, with a huge bank account, but with no real understanding of economics.

The other one will understand the real science of economics, will see the money for what they are, a tool that is useful and necessary, at least for a time, to the society. He might end up having a lot of money and using it wisely, both for his own enjoyment and to help others, or not having as much and not caring about it - however, he will always see the true scope and beauty behind the system.

Homily from Sat.'s Vigal Mass from Fr. Joe, he talked about how Rockefeller used to take one or two days out of the month to eat a meal with his staff in the kitchen with them. He was the richest man on earth, yet still took time out for these guys, the money did NOT go to his head here, we should all follow suite in this regard, no matter what our standing is.

St. Francis de Sales comments on the worldly mind:

http://www.catholicity.com/devoutlife/4-01.html

Quote:
Is it not as plain as possible that the world is an unjust judge; indulgent and kindly to its own children, harsh and uncharitable to the children of God? ...

St. Paul says that charity is kind, but the world is unkind; charity thinks no evil, but the world thinks evil of every one, and if it cannot find fault with our actions, it is sure at least to impute bad motives to them…

Let us leave the blind world to make as much noise as it may…let us be firm in our ways, unchangeable in our resolutions, and perseverance will be the test of our self-surrender to God, and our deliberate choice of the devout life.

There is no surer groundwork for the beginnings of a devout life than the endurance of misrepresentation and calumny, since thereby we escape the danger of vainglory and pride… We are crucified to the world, and the world must be as crucified to us. It esteems us as fools, let us esteem it as mad.

Then I Pray that I (and for anyone else) is more Godly than worldly. Amen.

St. Francis of Assisi Pray for us all. Amen.

Lots of good 'summaries' already suggested;

If you want to go deeper, take a look at these two free online documents/books:

http://www.familyland.be/mercy/77-th...nt-moment.html - a great guide on 'how-to' - 'be Godly' in todays modern world . .

http://www.familyland.be/mercy/68-alone-with-god.html - another great book!

Godly people walk in the light and wordly people walk in a haze.

I would say it has to do with a Christo-centric or Catholic world view. Everything in the world, everything in life is seen through Catholic eyes.

Our catholicity breathes through everything we do sun up to sun down seven days a week, whether we are at home, at work, on vacation, going out to dinner, dancing, going for a drink, going shopping, everything.

Our faith isn't relegated to one hour on Sunday morning.

Worldly people live according to the pattern of the world and gratify the lusts of the flesh.

Godly people live according to the Spirit of Christ, and by that Spirit put to death the lusts of the flesh.

"Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions, occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control."

Can someone please show me where the Church teaches that there are two types of people - Worldly, and Godly...

I thought we are all both worldly and Godly at times, I did'nt realize that there were two separate races of people.
