Greetings in the name of Jesus...I came across this group while looking at my husbands profile, and i wass grateful to find Catholic women wearing coverings. We joined the Mennonite church 8 years ago and are still finding it hard to fit in. We have been recently attending a bible study at the local catholic church and i have felt very comfortable there. I would like to do more with but was unsure of how they would relate to my wearing a covering(i became convicted of this practice about 11 years ago)and do not intend to give it up. We have 12 children. 4 biological 5 special needs adopted, and 3 in heaven. I would really like to get to know this group better so please write to me.

Hello lovely women of Christ. My name is Kileen, and I'm 20, almost 21. I have any interesting history in regards to the church in that I wasn't Catholic, then I was, then I wasn't again, but now I am. At this point, I am more in love with God and the Church than I could ever have imagined! I have been wearing a veil for about two years now. I started when I was a part of a Catholic youth ministry organization called Reach Youth Ministry. A lovely young lady who I was serving with, who is now one of my best friends, wore a veil. I asked her about it, and she shared with me how wearing a veil increased her devotion to God and in particular helped her to become closer to him in the sacrifice of the holy mass. I was looking for any way I could find to come closer to him, so I began wearing a veil, and it's amazing how much more I have learned from people coming up and telling me all about my veil randomly, but that is what has happened. I love wearing a veil because it brings me back to humility and love, two things I tend to struggle with immensely.
Well, hope you all are having a wonderful day and a wonderful month of November.

Hello! My name is Bridgette, I am 28 years old, married with no children (yet
) and I am very excited to start veiling! Some of the ladies in my chapel women's group are going to start wearing veils during the Advent season with the new translation of the Mass. Many of my friends already have their mantillas and husbands' support, and some ladies are trying to warm up to the idea. I'm glad to see so many options for headcoverings! My own husband is not Catholic and very nervous about my wanting to cover my head at Mass. Mostly because he thinks the mantillas look like doilies and they make me look like a grandma. With all the resources available on this forum, I think I can manage to still cover my head at Mass without alienating my husband, and share this information with other ladies who might have the same reservations. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!

Welcome to you Pix. It took time for me to cover my head for Mass, but I am so glad I do and now I am never apprehensive to cover before going inside a church. Hopefully with the new translations, more women (and girls) may decide to try some form of cover at Mass too.

Hello all!!
![]() I'm such a veiling newbie -- Been doing it since July, and I currently only own one mantilla. In black. I'd like to get/make more one day, since I love colors. I've only ever seen 2 other women in my life covering at Mass, and both had quite the impact on me. With the first, I was visiting another parish, and I was totally drawn to this woman veiling, almost mesmerized. For several months, I went back and forth on it, and learned about the tradition. With the second veiled lady, I was all mad because I couldn't find the priest for Confession, and I was having this talk (in my head) with God about veiling. I was like, "Should I do this? I'd be the only one here to do it. Which doesn't bug me, I just want to know what YOU want of me," and BAM! A woman visiting the parish came into the room (I was in the back, walking with the baby) for a whole 30 seconds, turned around, and left. I never saw her again. And she was veiled. Had I been in Confession, I likely would have completely missed her. So, yeah, I got my answer. Pretty clear. And I've been covering ever since, happily ever after. The end.

Truly Beloved:
Yeah, God works that way sometimes, doesn't he. For some time (over a year at least) I've felt called to cover full-time (been covering for Mass pretty much when I got here from SW Ontario), but I've been dilly-dallying about the style (long story short I can't use my right hand or arm for more than just bracing) so by and large the Jewish style's out. Loove tichles, just can't hack it if it's not pre-tied. PM me if you want to know more about my story (I'm a convert too BTW).

Thanks!!
Apparently, you create the best Groups at CAF; this one and the Girly-Girls one are the only reason I come back to CAF anymore. (The Parenting subforum finally drove me nuts awhile back. )

@ Pix Have you considered wearing a hat ? That might make your husband more comfortable? Last edited by Maryann C; Dec 4, '11 at 12:15 pm. Reason: To add the name to whom this is addressed |
