Default Bible Search and BBcode

We came across a Catholic Bible site supporting a bible bbcode plugin.
http://www.veritasbible.com
They offer the Douay Rheims, Latin Vulgate and Haydock commentaries.

We have made this available as [bibledrb] and [biblelvb] tags.
The [bibledrb] tag is available from the CAF post editor. The [biblelvb] tag requires a manual edit.
The tag requires a "Book Chapter:Verse" format.
We've made this available on a trial basis. Check it out and let us know.

We could also implement this as a [bible=option] bbcode (as in [bible=drb] ).

Examples:

[bibledrb]Matthew 16:18[/bibledrb]
yields:

[bibledrb]Matt 16:18[/bibledrb]
yields:

[bibledrb]Mt 16:18[/bibledrb]
yields:

The point that comes across, I hope, is that this bible bbcode supports most popular book abbreviations. Give it a try.

Default Re: bible bbcode

The Latin Vulgate version works in a similar manner.

Examples:

[biblelvb]Matthew 16:18[/biblelvb]
yields:

[bibledlvrb]Matt 16:18[/biblelvb]
yields:

[biblelvb]Mt 16:18[/biblelvb]
yields:

Default Bible Search and BBcode

The Catholic Bible site (www.veritasbible.com) that supplies the bible bbcode plugin used here at CAF also has a Bible Search plugin.

It allows you to simultaneously:
  • Search bible citations (book chapter:verse) in the Douay Rheims and the Latin Vulgate.
  • Supports keyword, phrase and Boolean searches
  • Search the Haydock commentary, and other article resources they have available online.
We've installed it in the left side-column of all forums.
