Re: US Senate Passes Shiavo Bill
Doesn't this just send it to a federal judicial tyrant that will rule against her again?

Re: US Senate Passes Shiavo Bill
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The U.S. Senate signed off on legislation late Thursday to protect Terri Schiavo. The bill is a more limited version of one approved by the House Wednesday night. However, Congress will not likely be able to finalize the legislation in time to prevent Terri's starvation on Friday.
The Senate approved the measure on a voice vote that came after House members had adjourned.Senator Rick Santorum, a Pennsylvania Republican, said the Senate had to pass the more limited bill because Senate Democrats, and even some Republicans, opposed the House language.
"We've made our best effort here and it does solve the problem," Santorum said after the vote. "We tried the House language, there was broad opposition on both sides of the aisle."
That the Senate passed a different version of the bill still leaves Terri in jeopardy because House members have already headed home for Easter recess and would not likely be able to take up the bill on Friday.
In a statement, Speaker Dennis Hastert of Illinois and Majority Leader Tom DeLay of Texas, blasted Senate Democrats for opposing the House version.
"As Terri Schiavo lays helpless in Florida, one day away from the unthinkable and unforgivable, the Senate Democrats refused to join Republicans to act on her behalf," the said.
Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden, a Democrat, said during the Senate debate that, if Congress, played "medical czar in case after case... there will be thousands of cases just like this."
"We can't just sit by and allow this innocent woman to be starved to death,'' said Senator George Allen, a Virginia Republican, responded. "It's logical to presume that people want to live.''
Senator Sam Brownback, a pro-life Kansas Republican, said he and Santorum met with House leaders to see what could be done.
"Rick and I went over and met with DeLay, and urged them to take the Senate bill. He said he'd see what he could do," Brownback told Reuters.
Terri Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, and Terri's brother Bobby walked the halls of Congress making last-minute requests to support a bill.
The House bill would remove cases like Schiavo's from state courts and allow parents or anyone else with a close relationship to a disabled patient to get a federal court hearing if a feeding tube's removal is pending.
It would only affect patients who did not leave an advance directive detailing preferred medical treatment and for whom a state judge had already authorizing withdrawing food and water.

If we all keep bombarding God with our prayers of protection for Terry Shiavo, I think we will get the miracle we truly are seeking! Jesus, I trust in you!

Re: US Senate Passes Shiavo Bill
Will keep praying! Look at this.
FRANCISCAN FRIARS PRAYING TO ARCHBISHOP SHEEN FOR MIRACLE FOR SCHIAVO
YONKERS, NY, USA, March 11 (CNA) - While pro-life supporters nationwide fight for the life of brain-damaged Terri Schiavo, whose feeding tube is scheduled to be removed March 18th, New York's Franciscan Friars of the Renewal are staging a different kind of campaign.
The Yonkers chapter of the New York City-based order has started a prayer campaign asking for the intercession of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen.
With Archbishop Sheen's help, the Friars are hoping for a miracle.
Father Andrew Apostoli C.F.R., one of the friars, said that "the late Archbishop's TV show was called Life is Worth Living, and believed very strongly in the value of every life, but the opponents to Terri Shiavo do not think that her life is worth living."
A Florida judge recently ruled in favor of Terri's husband, Michael Shiavo who plans to remove the feeding tube, which gives food and hydration to his wife.
Terri's family and other pro-life leaders are racing the clock to find a way to appeal the decision and save 41-year old Schiavo from starvation.
The Friars are asking that anyone who wishes to join them pray the following prayer: Eternal Father, You alone grant us every blessing in Heaven and on earth, through the redemptive mission of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and by the working of the Holy Spirit. If it be according to Your Will, glorify Your servant, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, by granting the favor I now request through his powerful intercession. Lord, grant that Terri Shiavo's life be spared and grant her a healing that the world may know the value of every life.

Re: US Senate Passes Shiavo Bill
And the Democratic party is trying to win back the confidence of the American public? This certainly isn't going to help. This is just another typical example of Democrats telling us rabble that we are too dumb to think for ourselves what is right and wrong, and that they need to make our decisions for us.

Removing her feeding tube right won't kill her immediately right? How long does she have when they take it out?

As little as 4 or as long as up to 12 days.

I agree, I believe he was asking how long the body can go without nutrition and hydration before it succumbs. If I werer in Florida, I would go to the place were Terri is being kept and physically intervene if the hypocritical Democrats can't get their craniorectal insertion syndrome fixed by 1:00 today. Jeb Bush needs to get a company of loyal National Guardsmen down there and put her under protective custody.

Is this an example of a conservative penchant for a resort to mob violence?

Loyal National Guardsmen? Has Florida had problems with disloyalty in the Guard? And, though he is a conservative, Gov. Bush actually believes in the rule of law.
