Nourishment to Terri: Pray for the Intercession of St Anthony of the Desert
Tuesday: It is wondrous that Terri's vital signs are still strong. Forgive me, but I have been praying that God would speak directly to the hearts of the nurses, the doctors, the janitors, the police, anyone who comes into Terri's room and that what He would say is 'Bring water; bring food.'
I am reminded of a saint who really is much loved by myself. I don't know why I forgot to put him on our list of angels and saints. The saint is St Anthony of the desert.
He lived as a hermit in the desert for a long time. The story goes that God sent a raven with half a loaf of bread for Anthony every day. (Ravens are a christological symbol and a symbol of mediation between heaven and earth in First Nations beliefs.) One day a visitor came. That morning the raven had brought not half a loaf, but a full loaf in order to feed the visitor.
Here is St Anthony's story:
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/01553d.htm
Let us ask St Anthony of the desert to intercede for us so that God sends water and nourishment through someone chosen to be a raven for our Terri.

Isn't there also a saint who lived on only the Eucharist for years and years (I'm thinking it was like 30, but I can't remember the whole story).

Wisdom:
I believe you are thinking of St. Catherine of Siena.
Ani:
I thought of another saint to ask for intercession, one who died of starvation when he offered his life in the place of another in the concentration camp - St. Maximillian Kolbe. If anyone would know the horrors of this death, it would be him, and I'm sure his prayer would be powerful.

Beautiful, Joysong. Thank you for mentioning St. Maximillian, and I'm sure you are right, his prayers along with St. Anthony's will be powerful.

Here is another saint: Saint Giles. Another hermit. A hart came to him everyday so that he could have milk. Let's pray people!

Pray to Fulton Sheen!
www.franciscanfriars.com/terri.htm - The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal are praying for a healing miracle for Terri through the intercession of Fulton Sheen. As the website notes, his t.v. show was entitled "Life is Worth Living," but Terri's opponents think that her life is not worth living. Let's pray to Archbishop Sheen for a healing miracle for Terri and an increased respect for human life in our country. God bless you all!
