Default She's thirsty

Here's an article from the weekly standard: http://www.weeklystandard.com/Conten...5/390mvxiz.asp

Why can't anyone try to give her liquids by mouth?

How would you like to be one of the policemen assigned to guard her? "Excuse me while I arrest this child who's making the criminal attempt to bring water to a disabled woman." How can they live with themselves?

Default I've asked this question before.

Has Terri Schiavo felt thirst or hunger in the last 15 years?

There's no way to know that, since she cannot communicate to most people. What she feels is irrelevant, however. She's a human being who cannot survive without water.

Yes, according to a deposition by one of her nurses and the nurse interviews, she began to suck on a wet sponge, so her caregiver got her on ice chips and then to apple juice and jello . That caregiver made a deposition that she was ordered to discontinue feeding her, a feeding tube was put in.

no, BECAUSE THEY'VE BEEN FEEDING HER FOR 15 YEARS. There are plenty of stories on how they've given her paid meds so she won't feel the pain of starvation.

As to legal concerns, a guardian may refuse any medical treatment, but drinking water is not such a procedure. It is not within the power of a guardian to withhold it, and not in the power of a rational court to prohibit it.
Everyone needs to see this. Bush needs to read this.

Florida law changed in 2000 to say it can be considered extra ordinary and can be pulled if that is the only way they can be nourished.

The hope is...that as Terri was eating on her own when Michael decided on the feeding tube it can be proven HE was why she was tube fed, Not because she needed it. That's one of the latest battles.

It is funny that when I read this post, I saw St Jeanne d'Arc thirsting for water when she was being burnt to death. She asked for the Cross...and I also see Terri, so thirsty and burning from being so parched, asking for the Cross....

Christ is risen...truly He is risen!

While I agree with the author, he appears terriblly misinformed regarding the case. The court has prohibited oral fluids to the point of having officers lean down over Terri when her mother or father lean down over Terri to make sure nothing is going in.

The court IS NOT rational. That IS the issue. This is why we are asking Jeb Bush to do the apparently irrational (but not actually irrational) thing in intervening to trump the irrational court proceedings which are also illegal.

It is my understanding that Felos' cohorts were behind this change. How convenient.
