Default Florida Legislature Can Save Terri - Need to Act Today

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2...0/105225.shtml

Four Senators Now 'Flexible' on Terri Bill, Says Jesse Jackson

Four Florida state senators who opposed a bill last week to save Terri Schiavo now say they're "flexible" on a new version of the measure, according to the Rev. Jesse Jackson - who lobbied them on Tuesday to change their minds.

"We talked with four of them who are flexible now, who were not flexible before," Jackson told Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes" - in a development that could mean there's now enough support to pass a bill to rescue Schiavo.

Jackson, who zeroed in on the Florida Legislature's black caucus, acknowleged that his first words to one of the senators was "I need you bad."

"I thought that the guy, in the instance I was talking with, he [had] morally correct positions, ethical, sound positions, but he couldn't support the last legislation," the civil rights leader said.

Earlier in the day Jackson said he had persuaded two senators to reconsider, telling Hannity's ABC radio audience: "They've made that commitment. I hope it turns into something concrete, signed by morningtime."

Jackson said he had contacted Gov. Jeb Bush with the hope of mounting a joint effort, saying, "If we get two - with the help of Gov. Jeb Bush, we can get three."

As of late yesterday, Gov. Bush had not returned Jackson's call.

We need to:

1) Urge the Florida Senate to act immediately

2) Urge Jeb Bush to work with Jesse Jackson on this. If Jeb wants to do all he can do, he needs to do ALL he can do.

Does anyone know if the Flordia Legislature is discussing Terri today? The 11th court of appeals turned her down. This is too horrible.

I am in shock and utter disbelief. Those poor parents. What courage they have.

Go Jesse! Go Jesse! I don't care for him but wouldn't it be sweet if he turned out to be our hero in this?

Still paying hard and urging all to do the same - for all things are possible with God.

I am sad to say that I don't think any political grand standing at this point is going to save Terri. It may help others and I think this is mainly why the family has continued the pressure. If they can't save Terri, maybe they can help someone else.

My heart just hurts for them.

I don't know - after all, they are probably tired from their Easter vacation. In any event, they are back today and the need to hear from everybody to get moving immediately.

I can't find anything on the agenda yet. The Health Care committee is meeting this afternoon...is that where the last bill came out of?

Did they meet? What was their decision?

They met from 9:00 until 11:00 and did not discuss Terri. I can't determine whether they will meet tomorrow or not. Meanwhile NewsMax.com is reporting that Jackson has "failed" to garner the support needed for a new bill. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2...0/153725.shtml

I e-mailed all of the Republican 9 Senators, and Jeb Bush. Frankly, I do not think anyone is listening anymore. Is there any organized group that has a better chance of getting through the red tape? Or do these people just have a knee jerk reaction to the polls and shut down communications when it is convenient?

Frankly, I think Terri will be a martyr for the cause of the rights of disabled persons, and I plan to do everything I can along with other caring individuals to seek more substantive laws that will decrease the chance of this happening again.

May God comfort and bless her family and receive her home where she will be with a loving Father.
