A few years ago, I was at my grandmother's bedside while she died. I feel like I am going through it again. All I can do is remember what Bishop Sheen once said: "Turn your scares into prayers."

JOHN PAUL TWO - WE LOVE YOU!!!

we are all going to die so i'm happy that his suffering will end soon. we should pray that JPII has a happy death with the Virgin Mary and Jesus at his side. I couldn't imagine a better place to die then the vatican. in a way i envy him because he's going to be with God soon.

Reccomondation:

When I am frustrated or have difficulty with concetration I pray the Rosary with the help of this webpage. I use an ordinary Rosary in my hand, but I use the pictures for every mystery at the web to help me to focus on the right mystery.

Yep, I prayed those. In St. Peter's Square, they actually prayed the Luminous Mysteries about 2 hrs ago.

Last news translated through Babel Fish (remember Babefish is far from perfect. It's electonical and translate word for word).

From: Vatican News in German (Vatican Radio)
http://www.oecumene.radiovaticana.or...egSel=8&PagN=1

01/04/2005 22.16.25 "Pope is death close" Over fifty thousand humans from 21 o'clock at the Peter place the light realms rosenkranz for Pope Johannes Paul II. gebetet on. Vatikan-bischof Angelo Comastri explained before the Betern, from which many burning candles in the hand held, the Pope is meanwhile close to death. Among the praying, among them many Romans, in addition, some tourists, collected satisfying prevailed forwards; despite the cold wind urge at present ever more humans on the Peter place after. Also many Polish compatriots of the dying Pope are on the "Piazza San Pietro". A Vatikan-mitarbeiter explained over loudspeakers that the Peter place remains opened this night, and asked for silence in the prayer. (check valve 01.04.05 sk)

"Pope is death close" probably means: "The Pope is close to death" (it is disturbing with Babel Fish translating word to word, but I hope that some of you find the meaning in the sentences).

01/04/2005 23.21.58 US president Bush wants to come With a possible funeral of Pope Johannes Paul II. will be present in all probability also a US president George W. Bush. Report journalists from the periphery of the white house. After sources, "those not to be called want", would not give it "no possibility" that Bush does not travel to the Exequien. I saw that and they said it was because it was our Holy Father who instituted the Luminous Mysteries. It was in his honour.

I'm so sad here I sit, but also happy on the behalf on our Pope. He will soon be with the Saints in Heaven and skiing down the Heavenly slopes.

A sidebar story on Fox http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,152182,00.html describes what is happening to the Holy Father. The blood pressure drop is due to the toxins in the blood because of the faltering kidneys. The unstable blood pressure will cause various other organs to starve.

A person in strong physical health has a 10-20% chance of surviving this type of shock. In the Holy Father's case the most optimistic is 48 hours.

I am so sorry. After all my diocese, our school and parish has been through, I want to cling as a little child.

I feel so powerless in the face of God's will.

Just received from EWTN:

Subject: POPE JOHN II
EWTN Global Catholic Network, like most major media organizations, relied on information from Rome that later proved to be incorrect in reporting that His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, had died. We sincerely regret making this error.

As of 7 p.m Rome time, the Vatican reports that Pope John Paul II's health has worsened, with his breathing ``shallow'' and his biological functions ``notably compromised.''

EWTN is monitoring the developments from Rome and will provide new information as it becomes available. Please join us in continuing to pray for the Holy Father.

Note: I guess they are still having a hard time dealing with all of this. The mistake in the name is their mistake, not mine.

UPDATE:

Apr 1, 5:11 PM (ET)
By VICTOR L. SIMPSON

VATICAN CITY (AP) - Pope John Paul II was near death Friday, his breathing shallow and his heart and kidneys failing, the Vatican said. Millions of faithful around the world knelt, crawled on their knees, bowed their heads and lit candles to pray for the 84-year-old pontiff.

"This evening or this night, Christ opens the door to the pope," Angelo Comastri, the pope's vicar general for Vatican City, told a crowd at St. Peter's Square, where up to 70,000 people prayed and stood vigil in the chilly night. Many tearfully gazed at John Paul's third-floor window, wrapping themselves in blankets.

The Vatican said Friday morning that John Paul was in "very grave" condition after suffering blood poisoning from a urinary tract infection the previous night, but that he was "fully conscious and extraordinarily serene" and declined to be hospitalized.

By Friday night, the pope's condition had worsened further, and he was suffering from kidney failure and shortness of breath but had not lost consciousness as of 9:30 p.m., the Vatican said.

There is great sadness right now for many Catholics worldwide. Both sadness and concern. We hope that the Holy Father will recover, but sadly the news coming seems dire. I like how it is said, that he is now in God's hands.
