Ratzinger for Pope!
Who agrees with my sentiment? Who agrees that Cardinal Ratzinger is the best man for the job?

Re: Ratzinger for Pope!!!!!
I have heard nothing but positive about Cardinal Ratzinger and certainly he seems to be in consideration. I agree from what I know it sounds like he would do an outstanding job as Pope

Re: Ratzinger for Pope!!!!!
I agree...and what makes me happiest, is that he is not on any media outlets top 5 list for possible popes...and as we already know..."he who enters the conclave pope, leaves a cardinal"....
I am so excited....I think he would be a more than adequate choice....Let us pray.

I'd rather not speculate., and let the Holy Spirit pick.... and not worry... and Be Not Afraid and concentrate on the Divine Mercy..... I would have said something a while ago... but nah... time for prayer....

Re: Ratzinger for Pope!!!!!
Some actually have speculated about Ratzinger saying that they may want to elect someone old. I personally think he is a little too liberal on certain issues but I trust the Holy Spirit ... or at least I try to.

Re: Ratzinger for Pope!!!!!
I'm still a little too numb inside about the passing of Terri and John Paul II to be thinking about the next pope... although I'm happy that now they can be with their, and our, Savior for eternity.

I heard on one of the programs yesterday that often after there is a long papacy they will pick an older 'interim' Pope and thus Cardinal Ratzinger might be a good choice there. I don't know whether that was a valid point but it seemed to make some sense particularly if they cannot decide on someone for the long term. I wasn't Catholic when Pope John Paull II was chosen but looking back I certainly see that the Holy Spirit was at work. What an extraordinary man! He was the perfect choice for that time and I hope the Holy Spirit will provide similar inspiration this time.

Re: Ratzinger for Pope!!!!!
I believe that who the new pope is is out of our hands. God will make the ultimate decision because it will come from divine intervention. That is enough for me.

I have to agree with huskerfan here but just to throw my two cents in anyway, I'm not so sure about Ratzinger. Wasn't he the one that recently said something about "getting the weeds" out of the church? who exactly was he refering to when he said that?
Anyway, just not sure about him. I'd like to see someone who is more of a moderate that can give us good balance.

Re: Ratzinger for Pope!!!!!
I have no idea who should be Pope, nor any preference except God's preference. He will let me know at the appropriate time though... When the Holy Spirit has voted and it is announced to the world.
Other than that, our job is to pray. John Paul II, in his directives for this occassion, directed the faithful to pray and watch. Let us take our job seriously, out of love and respect for our beloved JPII, and our Trust in God.

Re: Ratzinger for Pope!!!!!
i think ratzinger would make an excellent pope. weather he will be elected is a different matter. i think that many see ratzinger as too divisive and unjustly has this stigma about him. but this is exactly what the church needs, to seperate some of the wheat from the chaff, or at least make the teachings of the church and what's required of the bishops more clear.

Re: Ratzinger for Pope!!!!!
I desperately want someone who will separate the wheat from the chaff, weed the garden, and so on. Cardinal Ratzinger seems to be strict enough. Is he loving enough? Charitable enough? I simply have no idea.
I would like to have someone young enough to last a long time; loving enough to touch people's hearts; and strict enough to protect us from error.
But I truly do not know enough about the cardinals to be able to have a preference. This is something I must and will entrust to the Holy Spirit.
