What's Your Favorite Podcast ?
I really enjoy Podcasts. I currently subscribe to “Catholic Answers LIVE”, “Kresta in the Afternoon”, “Sunrise Morning Show”, and “EWTN Open Line”. I really enjoy Church History, but I haven’t found anything on the subject. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: What's Your Favorite Podcast ?
If you're already into Kresta, he talks about Church History quite a bit. Have you looked through his archives at avemariaradio.net? You can stream the episodes, or you can click the episode as if you want to stream it and click on "view source" from your browser (I use Safari and that's located under View-View Source.) From there do a keyword search for "MP3". The first occurrence is always the URL address for the MP3 on their server. Then you can paste that address into a "preview post" on this forum, for example, then right click and save the link. Then just cancel the preview. Let me know if I'm not clear.
Also, be sure to check out Sonitus Sanctus and the sticky here on Consolidated Electronic Resources.

One podcast that I have gone to from time to time is Saint Cast podcast with Dr. Paul Camarata on the SQPN network. This podcast focuses on saint through the Church's history. Hope you like.

Re: What's Your Favorite Podcast ?
My absolute favorite podcast is Vanguard from the good folks at CurrentTV. A close second goes to Documentaries from the BBC World Service.
But given the previous answers to this thread it sounds like you're looking for our favorite Catholic podcasts, in which case I'd have to wholeheartedly nominate The Catholic Laboratory Podcast. I'm not exactly sure if the host has a scientific degree of some sort, is some kind of science journalist, or simply has a keen interest in science, but I must say that his presentation of controversial science is pretty well delivered and he understands things rather well (at least in the areas that are my specialty upon which I've thoroughly critiqued him). Best of all is that unlike other religiously based science shows, his purpose isn't to undermine science or to further the false dichotomy of science versus religion. Now, he purports that the show is intended for the non-scientific audience, though I've pointed the show out to friends and family before, all of whom were easily lost in his presentation (then again, us Americans are quick to be intimidated by polysyllabic words accompanied by a Scottish accent). His presentation of "the Darwin Myths" were a bit... uneven, if I might say so as someone with a degree in molecular biology, but he did at the very least mention the opposing views and even told the listeners where they might find more information from such a perspective. This is definitely NOT an apologetics podcast, it's hard science.
Catholic Answers Live is hit-and-miss for me. There are some shows to which I'm riveted, and other which frankly are down-right boring, but that's expected with a show that touches on so many bases and speaks to so many topics. They cannot please everyone. One particular qualm I have with CAL which has stuck out, especially recently, is their choice of guests on particular topics. A couple weeks ago Patrick was hosting a particular theologian (whose name currently escapes me). All was well at first, until evolution was briefly brought up by either Patrick or a caller. Nonetheless, the conversation began to drift in that direction and the good theologian really just started making the typical creationist litany of "objections" to evolution, which to us biologists appear as a laundry list of logical fallacy, non-sequitur, and down right inaccurate portray of actual science.
I also found it incredibly insensitive for CAL to host a former president of NARTH during a topic on homosexuality. Now, his presence wouldn't have been completely inappropriate had he stuck to the theological and moral issues of homosexuality, but it became readily apparent about five minutes into the show that he was serving in the capacity of an expert witness to the biological/psychological causes of homosexuality. Given that NARTH is almost universally condemned as a quack organization, and has caused untold amounts of harm to numerous well-intentioned families by telling good mothers and fathers that their sons are gay because the mothers were overbearing and emasculating, and that the fathers were absent and indifferent (none of which is supported by actual science), I strongly believe that good gentleman was very misplaced on that episode. He did not belong there, and I think that if CAL is to ever do another episode on the biological and/or psychological basis of homosexuality, they might want to rethink their choice of "experts".

Since you axed...fhu.com
I like Roy Master's podcasts. Masters is a Jewish-Christian-former-diamond-cutter hypnotist-turned de-hypnotist, i.e., getting people to do an awareness exercise that lets subliminal junk float into conscious awareness and dissolve in the light of truth. Great stuff. He works with prisoners and military to de-emotionalize thought and, in patience, possess one's soul.

Yes, I know... Star Trek is not remotely on topic. Sorry for the derail.

It is my understanding that we do not really know the causes of homosexuality, but to the extent that we do, we know that child development and habituation are factors. Am I wrong?

Re: What's Your Favorite Podcast ?
Windfish:
Okay, so you like evidence. Me too. Please provide some for your claim that NARTH is "almost universally condemned as a quack organization." Dr. Nicolosi (and Richard Fitzgibbons and the late Charles Socarides and Rev. Mario Bergner and Ruth Tiffany Barnhouse and Father John Harvey, and a host of other clinicians and thinkers) has amassed well over 25 years of real world experience working with same sex attracted men.
Most of our listening audience already accept the moral dimension, windfish. What they want is some insight into the roots of WHY their son or daughter turned to the gay lifestyle. I know some of his clients and former clients and families, and they don't resemble your caricature. Your remarks jump the shark, IMHO. Just wondering -- do you accept Catholic teaching against homosexual behavior?
As for the evolution comment, I have no idea to whom you're referring. I do know this much: whenever evolution is broached, uberscientists take issue with any doctrinal limits observed by the Church, and uberfundamentalists take issue with any support for evolution in any form. An interesting dynamic.
Thanks for tuning in, and we'll try to ensure that more episodes retain a non-boring status.

Awesome podcast...
I live in Chicago and this amazing priest started a radio show about a month ago. It has truly helped me with my faith and I would most definitely recommend it. Thanks to the show, my prayer life has been reawakened. And the priest ties in a lot of church history.

Re: What's Your Favorite Podcast ?
I'll need to listen to a few of these over the weekend.
Anyone know any with a left-wing/liberal political stance?
