Question Prophecies of St. Malachy

A friend sent me a link to this article: Saint's Prophecy: Only Two Popes Remain. Is there any truth here or is it all a myth?

It's private prophecy so it doesn't have to be believed but it is kind of interesting. Only time will tell.

I'm curious, if the glory of olives is benedictine - whose a benedictine cardinal?

Anyone know?

I don't know who is a Benedictine Cardinal but I know Albert Pujols is a St. Louis Cardinal.

A little baseball humor on opening day.

There are several other meanings to "gloriae olivae".

Also an entire other thread on this same subject:

1) A member or supporter of the Italian political party bearing that name.

2) A sprig from the root of Jesse, that is a cardinal with Jewish antecedents

3) A priest of the Benedictine order also called the Olivetans

4) One with the olive branch or tree in his personal or family coat of arms

5) One who reconciles or concilates or brings people together in some dramatic fashion and if I've heard it once, I've heard this 100 times this week: "we need reconciliation between the bishops.priests and laity."

Keep in mind too, that often the meaning of any true prophecy is not clearly seen until after we see "who" it is.....going to be very interesting and may have a meaning not yet seen by us until after he gets the job.

Thanks, Hagia, for that explanation. Also, vaguely vaguely at the back of my mind, does the Malachi prophecy not predict some version of endtimes; that is, that there will be a couple of popes before Peter II and then Jesus will come again. Is another prophecy not that an antichrist will bring about a false peace in the Middle East and then Jesus will bring the true peace? Can the olive reference also be about the peace process in the Middle East?

No the Malachi prophecy strictly concerns itself with single individuals who take the papal throne. It says nothing about the end of the world, and I have never accepted someone's interpretation (I have no idea who) that there will b e several before Peter Romanus --the entire prophecy is a chronological list in order --there is no inference that anyone comes inbetween - they simply follow one another.

Well there are plenty of prophecies around.....many of which deal with a great persecution and then a church arising almost from the ashes of that but they have nothing to do with the Malachy prophecy.

You keep posting this on all kinds of threads and as I have asked you repeatedly since it is a partial eclipse visible only to the Americas and the So. Pacific - what does it have to do with Poland or Italy? Or the Malachy Prophecy?

Sky-watchers from the South Pacific to the Americas will witness the first solar eclipse of 2005 on Friday when the moon blots out part of the sun.

It will be a partial eclipse rather than a total one, in which the Earth is cast into darkness. But it will be the last partial solar eclipse visible from the continental United States until May 20, 2012

Cool Re: Prophecies of St. Malachy

I have heard that the, so-called, prophecy of St Malachy is actually not from St Malachy but is of a later date.
St Malachy

Does that mean Jean Marie Lustiger would be elected Pope?

St Malachy
St. Malachy gave his list to the Pope, but the list was not made public until many years later.

Interestingly, when I was at St. Paul's Outside the Walls, in Rome, there are mosaic protraits of 264 Popes (Stephen II is left out because he was elected and then died 3 days later, before being consecrated) on the perimeter walls. There is enough room left on the walls for only a couple of more protraits. Then I guess they'll have to go elsewhere.
