A Prayer to Redeem Lost Time (by St. Teresa of Avila)

O MY GOD! Source of all mercy!
I acknowledge Your sovereign power.
While recalling the wasted years that are past,
I believe that You, Lord, can in an instant turn this loss to gain.
Miserable as I am, yet I firmly believe that You can do all things.
Please restore to me the time lost, giving me Your grace,
both now and in the future, that I may appear before You
in "wedding garments".
Amen

If you knew the answer to this question which thankfully you answered on Page. 1, Post # 15 why did you ask it or was it a "test"?

Either way, thank you very much for providing the answer.

I think Brother took up Cadian's suggestions on where to search for the prayer:

I suggest looking at the series:

The Collected Works of St. Teresa of Avila, Vols. 1-3:
Teresa of Avila (Author);
Otilio Rodriguez, O.C.D (Translator);
Kieran Kavanaugh, O.C.D. (Translator)

This prayer/poem may be from one of her letters.

Cadian
He may have written back simply to let us know where he found the prayer, so others would know the source.

Many thanks to cyb for posting this beautiful prayer. It's very applicable to me!

Praise and thanks be to God. (And blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints, remembering St. Teresa of Avila especially.)

nahbios Thank you for replying to my "curious" question. Anyways, I'm glad that Br. David O.Carm provided an answer on page.1, post.#15.

By the way, this prayer is applicable to me as well and yes thank God for His angels, His Saints, and at this moment in time for St. Teresa of Avila. Amen.

I was curious and wanted to read it in context.

When no one could provide an answer I took up my books and found it for myself and then posted the information.

I do find this thread amusing though.

A thread and a prayer about redeeming lost time.

A thread where people either type out or cut and paste a prayer asking God to redeem time lost. What is more of a loss of time than continually typing out a prayer over and over on an internet forum?
