Default Pope Vigilius and the 5th Ecumenical Council

Hi,

I'm wondering what is the Catholic response to this information?
http://www.orthodoxchristianity.net/...?topic=13409.0

Pope Vigilius was excommunicated by the Council...

doesn't that contradict what we believe about the Papacy?

Is there a response to this? I don't know enough of the history to figure out what actually happened....

I know there are many other cases in history where the Papacy is supported.. I'm just wondering about this particular case.

Only Catholic replies please, because I've already read a lot about the Orthodox side thanks!

(here's the article from Catholic Encyclopedia, but I don't know the background behind any of the history so I don't really understand much of it, lol.. http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/15427b.htm if anyone could please simplify the story for me that would be great! I also found this thread http://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=139507 can someone translate all this into layman's terms for me please? )

No, it isn't. Jesus gave to The Apostles The Power to Bind and to Loose. This is just an example of a temporary loose... He was exxonerated in latter century. People are just people. Get the book by Pat Madrid, "Pope Fiction"... It has the Truth about certain Popes clarified through historical Precedent. You can get it cheaper here:

EXCELLENT BOOK !!! I highly recommend it!
