Can you imagine what it would be Like with Ratzinger in Charge??

That man dont take spit off of anyone.
He would take names and clean house for sure.
I pitty the Priest like Martini and Mahoney if Ratzinger was elected. I would die of happiness if Ratzinger was elected and then lived long enought to fix the broken ship.

Dont miss one important point though:
Never happen.
So, dont build up expectations over this.

In this day, we will not get a good man. It will be either Terramanzi (the wolf in sheep's clothing) or Daneels (the super Liberal) or
someone like them.

The best men that I can see, and I could be way off, is

1.Ratzinger
2. Battista Re
3. Bertone
4. Arenzi

John Paul hand picked all the Cardinals with the exception of two I think, but dont think that will save us.

Pius XII did the same and we got the super Liberal John XXIII anyway.

Who was it? Ike that picked the most conservative man he could find for Supreme Court.....Earl Warren? Look what Warren did to the court!
Nixon picked the most conservative man he could find....Warren Burger. Look how liberal he turned out to be.

Best thing to do is pray to the Holy Spirit.
Pray that the Conclave allows him in the door to influence the voting!!!

Just a logistical fyi (170 divided by 40 is just about 4 per person).
I the spirit of Steph's post, I will adopt two more Cardinals (leaving room for more people to join the prayer chain.

My new adoptees will be Theodore Cardinal McCarrick of Washington, D.C. (because he's close to home) and Zenon Cardinal Grocholewski of Poland (because I'm like 90% Polish and can pronounce his name )

If you're keeping track, that's Cardinals Keeler, McCarrick and Grocholewski for me. Updated lists to follow....

A little more than 2/3 of the Cardinals still available for 'adoption'.

"To be announced" folks, expect a PM tomorrow, and I'll update the lists done by Wisdom 3:5 (and thanks! I didn't have quite the patience for the html'ing).

I think this is a great cause for us to be united in! God bless.
Oops, I thought I was clear in a tongue in cheek fashion that Pujols was a St. Louis BASEBALL Cardinal. I most definitely want to be assigned a Church Cardinal to pray for. Sorry for the confusion.

Hey guys! Haven't you've got it all wrong? If we are praying that the Cardinals open their hearts to the Spirit, shouldn't we be doing the same? Let the Spirit choose a Cardinal for us to pray for, and let's not only pray for him but also try to know more about him, look at his photo, read something and truly feel our brotherhood in Christ.
I have favorites too, but I am willing to let the Spirit lead me, are you?

Alma

ps Someone posted a beautiful prayer (novena for the election of the next Holy Father) on this same section of 'Peter's chair', you may want to use it.

Sorry for coming in so late; please assign me someone. I'll take anyone, but might be able to focus my efforts better if you gave me someone from Portugal (or both of them). I half-jokingly say I'd like to move from California to Portugal where abortions are illegal (for now).

I'll pray for Keith O'Brien, the Cardinal from Scotland. He was born in Ireland on St. Patrick's Day, by the way.
