TO OUR BELOVED POPE
on the occasion of his death
John Paul II, we still need you
To bear witness to what is true.
Although your work on earth is done
Your time in Heaven has just begun.
People of all faiths confess
That in you they see holiness.
For human rights you took a stand
Honored by people of every land.
The culture of life you did increase
And in the world you fostered peace.
You are truly a "Universal Saint"
Who preached the truth without constraint.
The witness of your Christ-like love
Showed us a glimpse of God above.
Your love embraced the whole human race
And left the world a better place.
Please, then, carry on your mission
From your place high up in Heaven.
Continue to guide us to all that's true,
John Paul the Great, we still need you!
