online books written by saints--a site providing them
I was surprised to find this mirror site, which provides a great number books written by such saints as Teresa of Avila, Faustina, Ingatius, Louis de Montfort, and John of the Cross.

A more select offering of these books is available at:

For easier reading you may want to increase the size of the text on the screen. To do this, increase the percentage, found at the top of the webpage.

In the US book copyright lasts for the life of the author plus 70 years (copyright extension act 1998).
In Europe it varies but is about the same.
There is no copyright on books older than that and certainly not by saints hundreds of years ago.

You are quite right to ask about copyright. Generally when I pulled up a book from these 2 sites, it indicated that the book was in the public domain, or obviously the book was too old to still be under copyright.
And, actually, the copyright law never forbids reading something, only reproducing something if it is under copyright.

Re: online books written by saints--a site providing them
The books are all public domain. The main site is: Saints' Books, which will have the most up to date library of books available and links.
I'd particularly recommend Fr. F.X. Schouppe's Purgatory, and some of the newer volumes were just added, St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori on 'Vocations to the Religious State' and Fr. Paul O'Sullivan O.P. E.D.M.'s, 'Saint Philomena the Wonder-Worker'.

There are some works by Fr William Doyle SJ on the website www.fatherdoyle.com
Have a look at the section on his writings. Plus there is a spiritual quote and commentary on his writings every day.
He's not a saint yet, but he should be!!
