Default Ebay seller claims to have another host

The seller just sent me an e-mail stating that they had another host that they were planning to auction off. Just in case, you haven't read my other post, they're Protestants. What a surprise!

Unhappy Re: Ebay seller claims to have another host

Unfortunately, $2,000 is the seller's motivation. They got $2,000 for the last one, so in the mind of someone who apparently does not care about the grave nature of their sin, they would certainly obtain another host so that they can do it again! He/she probably went to the very next mass they could and got another host.

I think that if the seller puts another host up for sale the best thing that could happen is nothing, no bids, no emails. Instead of giving the seller the attention and money that they want, they should get silence. What they learned from the huge number of emails they received and the huge bid was that they saw the ability to hold hostage through anguish, faithful Catholics that are horrified by it.

In addition, fear unfortunately, if it gets on the news one the story will not necessarily be given the respect it deserves but everyone will know about it. Although, eBay may receive some bad press will they do the right thing? If eBay dose not pull the sale any anti-Catholic will know about the Eucharist for sale and purchase it purely for their regrettable whims.

Sadly many times bad press is better than no press.

Can a person cancel their bid? If so, can someone contact the buyer and tell him not to follow through with the sale, because they are just going to try more and more?

That is just one persons opinion.

My opinion too. Of course, my first reaction was to buy the Host. However, it was quite foreseeable that this would only encourage a trend. I am heartsick about the whole matter.

Would you cut and paste the e-mail so we can read it. Thanks.

I suspect fraud. This is a sucker game. How could they prove that the host was actually consecrated? You can buy boxes of hosts at any Catholic or Protestant religious goods store.

That was my first thought also. You know what they say, there is one born every minute. Not that I've ever been a sucker...

Listen, here, BUD, I am a Protestant and would not do such a thing. Should I judge ALL Catholics when a Catholic does something bad???
As for the moron selling communion wafers on Ebay he sounds like a donkey's behind and I doubt they are from his trip to Rome. Jerks try to profit from the suffering of others this guy is profiting from your anger over this.

That's exactly the tone of my complaints to them as well. Fraud and Theft are against their policies. However seems they're willing to bend those policies in this case huh?

Dear Lily

IF this is a consecreated Host then this guy has probably stolen it from a Church Mass rather than from a Mass with the Pope and is simply cashing in on the Pope's death, the Catholic faith, on Jesus/God and the fact that Catholics will buy the host to protect it.

This guy is not a typical Protestant and I don't care much for lumping people all in agroup together, you are just to be annoyed Lily! I am sorry for the generalisation, you ahev a right to be cross about that.

IF this is not a consecrated Host then this idiot is guilty of fraud and misrepresentation.

Either way he's burnt it and in a whole heap of hot water!

The Catholic Bishop of Iowa is involved, the Church will not let this go! The Church will not allow this to happen again and further more God will have His Vengeance..

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

springbreeze, thank-you, for understanding my annoyance with being generalized with this person. Believe me, I think what he/she is doing is VERY BAD! I have never taken part in The Eucharist, but I DO know the importance of the hosts to Catholics.
What really is annoying is, EBAY is allowing this...i wonder sometimes if it were something sacred to another religion such as Islam, and Hinduism would they still sell it?

Absolutely. There is no way to prove it is or isn't consecrated. Isn't that a good enough reason (inviting fraud) for e-Bay to ban such sales? We need to nudge our leaders to address this matter with e-bay.

I am posting on the ebay collectible message board, and I will have to tell you that there are some that are very disrespectful of our religion and all religions really. I have posted three times, but I want to bombard the message board so that ebay knows it is just not me alone that is complaining. I want more complaints to show up. If you are ebay user, sign on and go to http://forums.ebay.com/db2/forum.jspa?forumID=9

There is someone that is snide sniper, and their comments are as evil as their name. They must go looking for trouble. I am being criticised for trying to interfere with someone's free will. Go and read, and please post and help me out. Be very Catholic and keep your cool. It is not easy being Catholic sometimes.
