No, I'm not going to get into it. The quotes are from years ago. I am too hopeful to even discuss them now. I excuse the past statements as being from the past we he was more liberal. He seems to have come along way since then, and I am very hopeful that he will be a good Pope.

If what Kasper said is true, let us hope that the New Pope meant that from now on, Kasper no longer can run around like a loose cannon. Where Kasper goes, Benedict goes. Feel better?

Re: What do you Fore-See For this Pontificate?
I think that he will bring a thoughtful reflection shared by intellectual critique which causes us to think seriously about and recognize some of the difficulties of the day. This will be coupled with a humble witness of walking in deeper relationship with Jeuss Christ and a call for us to all grow in this maturity of faith, then witnessing it to the world. Heavyhanded smackdowns are not something I forsee a whole lot of in the coming years. Rather, he'll likely just speak poigniantly on the concerns and encourage his brother bishops as well as all the laity to do our own appropraite part in bringing about creative steps forward.

Couldn't find any interview on the BBC to confirm.
Walter Kasper was interviewed live on BBC News 24 TV in St Peters square last night after the conclave and he did say the Pope just told him that they now would walk the path of ecumenical unity together.
Pray for the Pope and pray for the Church.

True, the Sheep Dog to Guard the Sheep!
Yesterday I had mixed feelings, today when I wok up 45 minutes ago, my first thought of the day was to thank God for my day to begin AND a short prayer for Pope Benedict 16.
I am glad JPII, the Great, has a long reign because his Pintificate gave us a chance to know a lot of the Cardinals...Ratzinger, Arinze, and others. It seems like a VERY SMOOTH transition. I hope the coat-tails of JP2, the Great, will give Benedict 16 the launching platform to uphold the Truths of Chirst and The Church. I pray age will NOT be a factor in limiting Benedict 16 reighn. He is the Right Man at the Right Time for the Right Task!

The usual . . . dissenting voices wanting to be heard. He seems perfectly able to deal with it. By the way, can we call him . . .
