Default St. Malachy Prophecy

The fact is the prophecies of St. Malachy are questionable at best. You must question when he was counting from, you must question where and how he recieved this information, you must question the validity of the last entry of Peter the Roman, and many more things. Yes there are similarities between the Popes and some of the descriptions. However, you can make anything relate to everything. If you are the type that subscribes to conspiracies MAYBE you can claim that the reason the Church has not approved these prophecies is due to the fact that it would cause mass hysteria, then by all means be my guest. Or others can say that these really are just some guy rambling on. Or maybe you can say it is all symbollic. Whatever. Better yet, are we sure the Vatican was forthcoming on the Third Secret of Fatima? If I am not mistaken didn't some of that prophecy, approved by the Church if I am not mistaken, not come true? I am going to follow Christ's words on this one and not speculate. Yes there are signs such as disease, poverty, and war, but wasn't alot of this going on during the Middle Ages as well. It all seems trivial to me. I am going to go on with my life living for Christ. If the world ends tommorow, can I really stop it? NO! So our best bet is to live each day the best we can. Heck, maybe the prophecy was a hoax to get us to bring ourselves back to Christ by scaring us a little bit. Whatever the case may be, I just can not wait to come into the Church officially. But all this just makes me wanna go crazy. Nobody can even decide on what St. Malachy was referring to with the Benedictine thing (order or name). So please, live as each day was your last. Don't worry about tommorow for the most part, God will provide.

Thank you,
DU

I'm not troubled by the prophecy of future popes. I'm only interested in how previous popes fit the the prophecy.

This is what St. Malachy prophesized Gloria olivæ
The Benedictine order traditionally said this Pope would come from their order.

Just because someone takes the name of Benedict does not make Pope Benedict XVI Benedictine. If he would have chosen Anthony would that then make him a Franciscan. A name does not make someone a part of an order.
