Moral question
I own a supply house with my family members,i would like to pose a question.besides family members we have another 14 or 15 employees which i pay them, health insurance, they make between 25000 to 42000 a year some of them have families a lot of them work part time.the dedctible on the insurance is like $2500,i asked them to pay between 25 to 50 dollars to cover thier deductible with another insurance company.a lot of them say, they can not afford it and they declined to pay.right know i am able to pay this insurance that covers the deductible for them. If i do not, would that be a lack of charity on m part?. My business is down about 35% and the mark up is down about 50%, but we are still making a descent living.
Thankyou

No. It is not uncharitable and it is not immoral. You are quite generous already.
The financial health of the company is a partnership between owner and employees. The responsibility for their health care is also a joint one. There is nothing wrong with having employees share the cost of their health care premiums or having a deductible, co-pay, etc.

It seems to me as though you pay a fair wage for a fair days works. Thats all you are morally obligated to do. You dont force them to work for you and you pay them for their time. Everything else you do is from your own generosity.

Re: Moral question
Business is business and it is quite all right for you to pass on the extra healthcare costs to your employees.
