Oh, thank you so much for posting this! I am so happy to hear our Pope Benedict loves kitties, and I surely hope he gets to keep one (or several) of his own in the Papal Apartment. Kitties always know when they are loved, and they always follow those they love, so obviously he is much loved by them. I think it's wonderful! God bless him!

This is just about the coolest thing I ever heard! It's my experience that cats won't take up with just anybody...

I was glad when I read this earlier today, but hey, I'm a cat man myself!

Between my roommate and I we have 4 cats. The fact that he is an animal lover speaks volumns about his personality. I love him even more everyday. I am just upset that I didn't get to know him before he become pope!

God bless,
Beckers

I'm a cat person as well. I have 2; I love it that the new Pope is a cat person!

Thanks so much for the beautiful human interest articles about the Holy Father and his love for cats. It's seeing him as warm and approachable that will soften hardened hearts.

I bet Suzanne will be wondering why she's getting all these orders for her "German Shepherd" print all of a sudden!

Talking Re: Papa Ratz & the cats

We should be careful here. There's a poster I won't name who has a serious hatred of animals and loves to jump into any thread where animals are mentioned, show off his supposed knowledge, and rail on and on and on why he KNOWS that animals won't be allowed into heaven. He's a real pain.

But I really love that the new Pope is a cat man in specific and an animal lover in general. I know Pius XII loved birds and let them fly around his Papal apartments. They supposedly loved the buzzing of his electric razor in the morning.

Of course if Cardinal Ratzinger was a REAL cat lover he could've taken the name of Pope Sylvester!

The new Pope loves cats. .....

I wonder if he has a place in his heart for mice, too (muses Reepicheep the Mouse).

Smile Re: Papa Ratz & the cats

I never liked cats until our present one chose our humble home to grace with her presence. We found her up in the tree in the front yard on Christmas Eve 13 years ago. She came down and adopted us as her new family. Since then, I've been a cat lover.

The fact that our new Holy Father is too makes me love him even more!
