justin2step,

I'm new to this forum myself, so I hope someone with more experience in these matters can be of assistance to you, because it really sounds like you need help. In the meantime, I can tell you what little I do know.

First off, I've noticed that you are an atheist. Atheism is a religion too, it's just describes people who place their faith in the idea that there is no god. I think that tells us alot about where you're coming from when trying to deal with this spirit presence you've been experiencing. Spirits can attach themselves to people with similar psychological constitutions. Please understand that I'm NOT being judgmental when I ask you questions, such as: Are you a substance abuser? Drugs? Alcohol? Do you engage in any psychic practices or rituals? Is there anything along these lines that you and your girlfriend have in common?

If there is a demonic spirit present that doesn't seem to be going away, it is because it has attached itself to some form of your behaviour. I think you might want to start with that.

I will pray for you.

You say that you are not religious, but yet you seek out advice from Catholics who are religious. Interesting! Anytime we are involved in behaviors that are related to sin, we are opening ourselves up to bad spirits.

AngloCatholic asked several questions, all those things can open us up to bad spirits. You mentioned you and your girlfriend are having the same problems, there is a clue right there. Are the two of you involved in any behaviors that could be sinful such as fornication? If you are an atheist, you are breaking the 1st Commandment, Thou shall have no other Gods before me. That does include not acknowledging God as creator, savior etc.

The problem you have I would tell a Catholic to renounce all sin, go to confession and REPENT! Christians can bind evil spirits and send them to the feet of Jesus, but if Jesus is not your personal Lord and Savior, I am not sure what advice to give you except to start asking God to reveal himself to you. God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit (the Trinity) will reveal themselves to you if you ask.

I hope this is helpful. I will be praying for you.

A few things
1. Contact your local Catholic Church and have your home blessed.
2. Take an inventory of your interests and activities to make sure you are not inviting this or opening a door.
3. Get a St Benedict medal or Crucifix and have it blessed by a priest. there is an exorcism prayer attached to the benedictine blessing.
4. PRAY!!!!!!

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the Divine Power of God,
cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Justin,

I am sure you have heard the adage "Knowledge is Power", this has never been more true than with knowledge of God. Knowledge of God has real power, and through grace, real strength and perseverence is not only possible, but assured.

You have received good prayer advice, and I would also encourage you to gain knowledge of god. If you even entertain the thought that you are being visited by something possibly demonic, then you must recognize that the alternative (God) is true as well. Don't let what "you think is logical" get in the way of what is real. The experience you describe is not logical, but clearly is real to you.

Please call your local Catholic Parish, and inquire not only about house blessings, etc, but also ask about their RCIA program. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) These classes are just that, they teach you the basics of the faith. Once you have the knowledge you can make an informed decision about what you really believe. So much in this life today steers people away from god. It sounds to me like the experience you are describing is steering you towards god. Follow that path earnestly, with an open heart.

I will be praying for you and your girlfriend.

Hey There:

I'm new too. I'm praying for you. It's been five months since you've posted and I'm wondering if you've found any relief.

Blessings.
