Default I need some help with prayers at a memorial service

My grandfather passed away almost a month ago, and my family decided against having a burial service for him. Most of them were Catholics at some point in their lives (including my grandparents), but have fallen away from the church for one reason or another. I am a convert myself and am lucky that before Grandpa I really didn't have anyone die that I knew well. My mother and her siblings decided to go ahead and plan a memorial service where my mother at first asked me to speak at. I was a little stressed about it but was just going to remember the great memories I had with him. If I thought I was stressed, it only accelerated when my grandmother has requested that I actually lead some prayers for the service. I think itís mostly because I'm the only person in the immediate family who is a practicing Catholic and my grandmother said she didnít want to feel like a hypocrite. Since I really haven't been to any funeral/memorial services let alone catholic ones I have no idea where to start. Are there any really good formal prayers for the deceased, for grieving people/families? Any help or suggestions would be greatly helpful. I want to be able to bring some sense of relief/peace to my family in their time of need and also pray for my grandpa that he is being taken care of and is at peace himself. It's a little over a week away, but any help will greatly appreciated.

I am sorry for the loss of your grandfather.

Here is one I would suggest; the Nunc Dimittis

Now, Master, you let your servant go in peace.
You have fulfilled your promise.
My own eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all peoples.
A light to bring the Gentiles from darkness;
the glory of your people Israel.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen

Another suggestion would be to call your parish and ask for an appropriate prayer to say.

sorry for your loss.

there are many links for the search "catholic prayers for the dead" and you should be able to find something you are comfortable with.

try this link. http://catholicism.about.com/lr/pray...dead/257312/3/

if that doesn't work try some of the others from the search. God Bless

Eternal Father I offer you the most precious blood of your divine son Jesus in union with all the Masses said throughout the world today for all the holy souls in Purgatory. Amen.
