Default how should one know if a spell has been cast on them?

How could one tell if they had been spell-cast?

If you're baptized and in the state of grace you will never know because you are immune from direct demonic attack, including magic. Hence the spell would have no actual effect except maybe to present temptation to sin, e.g. doubt in God's protection. (This is why the enemy attacks us in thought, to try to get us to sin so as to weaken your defenses.)

Pray the Rosary everyday so no one can cast a spell on you. If you suspect it, go to confession, and and communion after, and continue praying the rosary.

I agree. If you are baptized and in grace I would not worry about it. I would say giving attention to something like that would only make you more susceptible or open to having spells work on you.

Pray to your guardian angel that he'll protect you from any harm that could come from anything like witchcraft.

Why do you ask? Did you get in an argument with a person who claims to be a witch or something? Are bizarre things happening around you? Or are you asking just out of curiosity?

You haven't had a spell cast against you. It's the power of suggestion, nothing more. If you believe in that stuff, speak to a priest and a shrink.

I've always thought that witchcraft, spells, etc is real, and hence, dangerous business that shouldn't be meddled with.

That's cool. I don't share your opinion. I don't mess with it because I think it's a waste of time.

I respectfully disagree with you.

Actually you're both right. Magic does exist; it's described and condemned in the Bible. It works by channeling demonic powers, which are also real. But as explained above, magic has no effect on a member of the Body of Christ except to arouse temptation to doubt, which could indeed be a product of the so-called power of suggestion.

If you're an adult asking this question in earnest, then maybe consult a psychiatrist...I don't even know about humanity anymore.

They said the same things when the barbarians were at the walls of Rome. They said the same thing during the latter 20th Century when there were ICBMs pointed everywhere. We'll be fine.

Oh so that's where that spell went, I was never quite good at unidirectional spell casting, sorry if it caused any problems mate!

Spells are nothing compared to grace. In that regard you are correct. However, we are NOT immune to direct demonic attack simply because we are in a state of grace. Take a gander at the life of St Padre Pio, or peruse "Hostage to the Devil" for examples.

We are, however, immune to human powers which don't exist (spells) and demonic INFLUENCE/possession whilst in a state of Grace.

I class intrusive thoughts, dark nights of the soul and periods of dryness, etc under the header of temptation. When I said "direct demonic attack" I was referring to possession and physical harm.

To those among the responders saying spells are nonsense, this is no more true than to say prayer is nonsense (which by the way I don't think). Just trying to point out you're being somewhat pedantic. There are more forces at work in this world than God alone. Also witchcraft is explicitly mentioned in the Bible so there you go - it's real.

It may also be worth pointing out that it is rarely the case that magic is thought to arise from the "caster" alone. Almost all belief systems rely on the invocation of a deity and subsequent redirection and manipulation of the naturally occuring energies in the world (in some cases elemental, in others spiritual).

In answer to the question it is hard to tell really. Unless you have worked with or experienced magic before it can be subtle and hard to sense. If you sense you have been spellcast then within the rules of what you're allowed to do as a catholic (of course) prayer should be enough. Dependent on the power of the spell it may be worth asking others to pray too.

Hope this helps

PS genuinely don't want to get anyone's back up, was just trying to correct a couple of misconceptions.
