Who is your favorite male saint?
I'm trying to pick a saint's name, but I'm not sure, so who's your favorite male saint and why?
i kind of like St. Augustine, and St. Thomas Aquinas, so maybe I'll go with one of them, but I'm not totally sure, and I kinda want a saint that is a little less known.

Re: Who is your favorite male saint?
Too many to just pick one:
St. Joseph, impossibly difficult situation. Father to the perfect son, Husband to the perfect woman.
St. Thomas Aquinas, greatest Theologian ever.
St. Michael the Archangel, the most powerful of all angels and kind of a jack of many trades.

Re: Who is your favorite male saint?
First, CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming Confirmation! I assume you are coming in through RCIA? I'm an RCIA 'graduate' myself. It's an exciting time!
I was confirmed in the name of St. Maximilian Kolbe.
He was a Polish Priest who was captured by the Nazis and put in a concentration camp. He continued to offer the Mass (with smuggled bread and wine) in the camp and was a great counselor for his follow prisoners, Catholics, Jews, and others alike.
When the guards selected ten men to die of starvation as punishment for another prisoner going missing, a Jewish man who was selected wept and lamented that he had a wife and children. St. Maximilian stepped forward, said, "I am a Catholic Priest. I have no wife or children. I will take this man's place" (paraphrasing). The guards let him.
After many days, only St. Maximilian and one other of the ten were still alive. The Nazis tired of waiting and put them to death with an injection of carbolic acid.
A little dark, I know, but a reminder to me that many people suffer more for their faith than I do...and if St. Maximilian could maintain his faith to the end in the midst of such evil and darkness, then I can certainly maintain mine in the face of mere secularist ridicule!
My recommendation to you: spend some time reading the lives of the Saints. There are books in most book stores, and plenty of resources on the web (I like http://saints.sqpn.com/ ). As you look, you will find a Saint that just feels right for you. I've heard that you don't pick your Saint, your Saint picks you!
God bless you.

St Francis, because I love his prayer "Make me a channel of your peace." and also, the animals.

I'm really liking Saint Charbel, Saint John Chrysostom, and Saint Seraphim Sarovskij (Russian Orthodox) lately.

Re: Who is your favorite male saint?
I made my confirmation too early in life. Actually I think most kids do. Maybe several hundred years ago you were an adult by the time you were 14, but now that's not the case. It would have been a lot more meaningful to me if I made it at 18, but I chose not to delay it because of pressure (everyone else was doing it). As such, I didn't pick a name, because my understanding of the Church at the time was abysmal at best.
If I had to do it now, I would pick St. Paul. He's my favorite. Besides Jesus, I think this man was the most influential person in the creation of Christian values.
