Default Why is the Resurrection so important?

I feel like I should know this because it seems really basic, but why is the resurrection so important that we celebrate it every Sunday and have the great celebration of Easter? I think it has to do something with Jesus being the second Adam and finishing the work of redemption by overcoming death.

It's important because every"body" is someBODY.

Whatever your understanding of "soul" is, you are not a spirit, you are a human being. And that requires that you are invested with a HUMAN BODY.

Life is the union of psyche and body.
You are a living being; to "be," you need life.
And to hold life, you need a body.

Christ promised everlasting life, not an existence in conscious death, which every other religion claims (even if only as a stop between reincarnations). That everlasting life requires an everlasting BODY to hold and express the life.

But no other religion has power over death; HE needed to demonstrate that HE had power to confer the everlasting life and Body.

And HE did it by assuming it Himself.

God Bless and ICXC NIKA!

I think 1 Cor 15 is a good place too start because Paul addresses your question.

In verses 1-12, he makes his case of how many witnesses saw the risen Christ.
In verses 13-17, he says if Christ is not raised, then the whole faith is in vain---AND we are still in sin.
And from there he goes into how because of this those who die in Christ are raised with him---something that man could never do prior to Christ's sacrifice.

If Christ did not rise from the dead, then neither could we. The grave would be the end.

As "Father Larry" has said...how do we know that Jesus is God?
it's becasue he rose from the dead!
and that's why the Resurrection is so important.
