Default Did I mess up the Divine Mercy Novena?

I think I may have goofed with the Divine Mercy Novena. I should have checked here or asked before I started, but I was away at my mom's Holy Thursday- Easter and she has horrible internet access.

I've been saying these individual prayers as the Novena. Basically each prayer if for a different group. But there is also a Chaplet of Divine Mercy too. when I first read the brochure I got from my Church, it looked like I was supposed to say the nine prayers, one each day. But the Chaplet looked interesting too, so I said that on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday but not Friday. I didn't say it on Friday since I didn't think it was part of the Novena (and I did something else during prayer time on Friday). Now I am wondering if I am supposed to say the Chaplet each of the nine days instead of/or in addition to the other prayers.

Did I mess it up? I hope not, but if I did, it would be nice to know so I can do it properly the rest of the week and pray the Novena the right way next time I pray it.

Thanks!

The chaplet isn't required for the Novena. You didn't mess up. It's recommended, and people usually do it, but only the prayers are required.

Thank you!

I like the Chaplet, it's a nice, simple prayer. So I will keep saying it in addition to the other prayers (I didn't even know it was recommended). But it really gives me peace of mind to know that so far, I've been doing the Novena properly and that missing the Chaplet on Good Friday didn't ruin the Novena.

Thanks again!

If there is anyone out there who is unfamiliar with 'Mercy Sunday' which is the Sunday following Easter here is some related info (including on a Plenary Indulgence) - -

The 'Diary of St, Faustina' is recommended reading, and can be purchased through most Catholic catalogs on the internet.

Here is a link to the Chaplet.

Unless there is some special, such as the Pope being broadcast live, the Chaplet is usually on EWTN, every day at 3pm.

In my booklet it says "It is greatly recommended that the following novena intentions and prayers be said together with the Chaplet of Mercy, since our Lord specifically asked for a novena of Chaplets".
I take that to mean we should pray the Chaplet after each novena prayer and intentions. Its not a problem for me anyway as I pray the Chaplet daily.
