Unhappy No longer able to listen to CA via computer

I am not able to listen to Catholic Answers Radio via computer. I am unable to listen via Real Player but can listen to EWTN radio programmes via Real Player. I do realise that audio is not available at the moment but my problem began when Real Player was available. Sometimes I can listen to MP3 but sometimes I can't. Is this a fault with my computer or is there an error in CA Real Player and MP3?

I'm not seeing any of the MP3 or Realplayer files either that are normally in the calendar archives. They might be updating.

Do you mean that the episode links aren't available or that you aren't able to listen live?

Since 5/25/11 (The episode "The Church in the News") I haven't been able to access the audio files of episodes. It says for all the episodes under Audio files from 5/25/11 going forward the following words: "In process - please check back later". In the past I could usually access the archived radio shows within a day or so. Is there an additional problem that's preventing access to all shows within the last 3 weeks? Thank you for your response in advance. God Bless.

Ok, I think the problem is either one of two things. For the past few weeks we have been having some big computer issues. The main computer that records the shows and posts the shows completely died on May 25th. Since then we haven't had the software that encodes the mp3s to "real player" files. I just recently finally got it up and running, so now all the real player files are posted.

The only thing that makes me think that this wasn't the issue is that I have been posting the mp3s on the calendar, so there was never a day that the calendar did not at least have the mp3 file posted. However I noticed that on my computer the link would not show up even when I posted the show. So if it is still doing that try pressing "F5" or refreshing the small pop up window that normally has the show links.

The other confusing thing was that even though the mp3 links were being posted, there was still an alert just above the mp3 link that said "Audio Files in process - please check back later".

I apologize for the confusion and delay of the real player files being posted. Please let me know if these things do not solve the problem or if there is anything else I can help with.

I tried what you suggested Matt but as of typing this I have the Real Player window opened and nothing happens, I press F5 and enter the link to the programme I wish to watch and nothing happend. When I pressed F5 the programme notes came up and I clicked on (Listen) Real again but nothing happened.

Unhappy Re: No longer able to listen to CA via computer

Is this happening with all the episodes or have you only tried it with one? How did you used to listen to the shows? Was it real player files or the mp3s? If you want to call the apologist line and ask for Matt we may be able to work this out a little faster and I can get a better understanding of what the problem is.

Is this happening with anyone else?

I used to listen to the shows by clicking on Listen (Real). This is happening with all shows both from 1998 and from earlier in this month. I can't call the apologist line because I live in Australia.

Hmm, well, without talking to you it's a little difficult to try and figure this out over the forum. Have you tried using the MP3 link? It's much higher quality and easier to use than real player. If it doesn't work when you click on it, you probably need to download quicktime.

It's really easy. Just go to this link: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ and follow the steps. Email me if it doesn't work at [email protected] and we can find another solution.

Thank you for your patience.

Thank you for your patience Matt seeing as this obviously is not a problem affecting everyone. I can listen via MP3 but prefer Real Player because I can stop and go back a little to listen to something again which doesn't seem to be possible on MP3. Anyway, thank you again for all the trouble you have taken.
