Re: No longer able to listen to CA via computer
It's no problem at all. Did you try emailing me? I haven't received anything in my inbox. Were you able to resolve anything?

Hi Matt ,
Do you know if the shows prior to 2008 are going to be in the archives?

Re: No longer able to listen to CA via computer
Unfortunately, the music licensing issue with the shows prior to April 2008 is an unfix-able problem. Because of this we don't see anyway we would be able to release those shows. I won't say they will "never" we made available but again at this point we don't any way we would be able to make them available.

I apologize for asking a ridiculous and "none-of-your-business" type of question, however:
What exactly in those shows provides a music licensing issue? I always assumed it was the intro. music. Is it just too much of a problem to edit that part out?
Again, I do apologize for asking this, I've just been curious about this for months now. It's just such a shame to lose... what? a decade's worth of shows?
Having said that, thanks so much for all of your hard work bringing CAL to us. I really should become a Radio Club member again; and in point of fact, I think I shall.

Re: No longer able to listen to CA via computer
Yes, the reason we cannot make the shows available is the intro music and each return music to the show. We would have to go through each show and remove the music. This obviously would take a very long time because, yes it is over a decades worth of shows, and we do not have the time or money to have one of us do it. It would have to be someone in the company and because of our other work and missions we don't believe it would be a prudent way to use our time and donations. Another reason is the quality of the show. Because of the cross talk with the music in parts of the show where the host talks over the music, (small parts) we would have to cut out part of the conversation and because we are dedicated to providing a high quality show there would not be a good way to fix that problem as well.
As sad as it is we have tried to provide, most if not all, the same topics that were available over that last decade, so that we would be able to give you the same information that we lost from the other shows. Thank you so much for your understanding and continued loyalty. And a big thanks for becoming a radio club member! Without you our show would go off the air for good! So thank you so much!
P.S. If you or anyone on this forum would like to give us a sound sample about why you joined the radio club and what Catholic Answers Live means to you, so that we can air it during our next radio club drive, please contact us at radio@catholic.com Your testimonies help out a lot! Thank you once again and may God bless you!
