Maybe I'm a bit of a snob as I work with software and I'm always on the web and so on, but navigating this website is giving me a headache. Will CAF get with the Web 2.0 program any time soon?

Perhaps you could volunteer your talents for the spread of the Faith. {Hint, Hint}

What would the advantages be of using 2.0?

If you could be more specific about what you would like to see, it might help the discussion. I think some of the features of "Web 2.0" already exist here: keyword search, tags and tag search, easy linking.

When I read the term "Web 2.0" I immediately think of user generated content. But do you have any examples of a large online forum which does this without fragmenting? Perhaps an important question regards how easy or effective is moderation of user generated content?

I'm not any sort of computer expert, but I visit many websites and feel this is one of the most awkward to use. First, you have 3 lateral columns of information that cannot possibly all fit on the screen at once, requiring constant annoying mousing. Second, because of the format only a few recent posts can be seen and you have to go in and out, over and over, to different forums, threads or groups. It would be nice to have, for example, every thread title in the last 12 hours visible, even in just a list under the forum heading. There is too much having to dig around to find posts. Third, use more colors (but not too many) to make it easier to see different things, and perhaps higher contrast as this site is not easy to read. Just thoughts from a regular user, no claim to be right. Thanks.

Unfortunately my expertise is not at the technical level but during the course of the day I'm used to browsing very clean minimalistic sites that only show the bare bones (no matter how substantial the product/service offering). I find this site just plain confusing; for example I had to go to my profile and look up my posted threads to get back to this one.

I still think it's a great site with amazing content and a great mission, but an improvement of the UI/UX (user interface/experience) will avoid confusion and encourage user participation and stickiness. Here are a couple of forum examples that really do the job:

http://drupal.org/forum

http://www.designerstalk.com/forums/

http://forum.joomla.org/

I realize it's an effort so no pressure, but i'll be happy to see the change whenever it take place.

God Bless!

My suggestion if you want to see this happen is to make a really big donation to Catholic Answers and tag it for website upgrades.

When resources are available for upgrades, they happen.

I've been here almost as long as CAF has existed, and this is the best it's ever been and from posting on other forums, none were/are as good as CAF IMO...
