Aborted Fetal Cells in Flavor Enhancers, fact or conspiracy theory?
flavor enhancer HEK 293
over 5000 sites found on Google.
If there is truth in what some say we are eating, then we may have a lot of boycotting to do.

It is a fact that this is being done. It is gravely evil that this is being done as well. I hope and pray that the people involved in this sort of research and such would repent of their ways and turn to God.

It's not actually in the product, they were used in research

Even so, we should not support such testing and research. Personally, I would like to boycott any companies that do this kind of research. Unfortunately, I don't know which companies do this so I can't effectively boycott them when I don't know who they are.

I was drinking Pepsi when I read about this, I promptly dumped the rest of the glass and bottle out. I hope Coca Cola doesn't do this

Oh no. Pepsi is the company doing this. I hope not! My favorite soda is Diet Mountain Dew which is a Pepsi product and I just bought a 12 pack. I wouldn't be committing a mortal or venial sin by drinking the rest of my 12 pack, would I?

Mountain Dew is so not worth Hell, if you haven't opened it try to return it or just dump it out.

Re: Aborted Fetal Cells in Flavor Enhancers, fact or conspiracy theory?
Boycotts are effective, but only if the company is made very aware of them. I would recommend that anyone that finds the idea of using dead babies to research additives in your soda should head on over to Pepsi.com and leave them a message (follow the Contact Us link). Personally I mentioned the fact that I now am repulsed and physically ill when I see their products at the thought of the dead babies used to research it. Pepsi takes great pride in their Brand name and Brand recognition. We need to make them understand what will happen to that brand name if they continue to associate with Semomyx.
God bless

All I can say is...Wow!
Is this really how low we've gotten as a society?
For a second I thought "the government should make a law" but then remembered that the government is in full favor of abortion and embryonic stem cell research. Rude Awakening.

Re: Aborted Fetal Cells in Flavor Enhancers, fact or conspiracy theory?
I looked at the link provided and I noticed that it also mentioned that Nestle used this cell line too, are they the owners of Pepsi? They own so much...
If there is a boycott of Pepsi, please also boycott Nestle, the company have been the focus of a boycott for years as they market baby milk to mothers in the third world, giving them the idea that it is what western mothers use to have plump healthy babies. The family often do not have the facilities to sterilise the feeding equipment and the milk is prepared with unclean water, this practice leads to the death of many of the babies fed this way, they are 25 times more likely to die. Also as a result of the expense, the baby is often underfed and there is less to spend on food for other children. To promote something that you know will lead to the deaths of some of the babies it is used on, simply for profit, is to my mind every bit as disgusting as using cells from aborted babies to test flavorings.
I hope that people reading this will take part in this boycott and encourage others to do so too, see http://info.babymilkaction.org/
I hope that if Nestle is boycotted over both these issues they will quickly stop both practices.

Yes, a cell line which decades ago was cultured from embryonic kidney cells has been used by Senomyx to test new flavors. However, that cell line is not used in the manufacture of flavors. So, in answer to the title of this thread, there are no fetal cells in flavor enhancers.
Senomyx sells its flavors to many companies, one of which is PepsiCo. PepsiCo owns a great number of brands, so if someone wants to boycott, there are plenty of products to avoid. For example:
Doritos, Tostitos, Lays Potato Chips, and other Frito-Lay products
Rice-a-Roni, Quaker Oats, Cap'n Crunch and other Quaker products
Gatorade, Propel, Tropicana and Dole juices
Ocean Spray, Lipton, SoBe and other Pepsi products
http://www.pepsico.com/Brands.html
However, which products those flavors are in I don't think has been confirmed.

This is all a bit 'Soylent Green', and really quite repulsive.
But it's a sure bet if Pepsi is at it, then a lot of other 'food manufacturers' are at it too.
We need to find out all the companies at this and compile a list for people to reference.

Re: Aborted Fetal Cells in Flavor Enhancers, fact or conspiracy theory?
Oh, c**p!! I just bought 2 gallons of Tropicana.
Well, I had been meaning to switch over to generic. I guess that does it. I've switched.
Fortunately, that was the only thing (other than Gatorade when ill) that I use. Thank you for the list.
