Thank God it's Friday! I had the hardest time getting out of bed this morning.

Does anyone have any exciting weekend plans?

Our "town" has it's Fall Festival this weekend. There will be a parade, which is mostly tractors and horses and then the Festival is pretty much just some bouncy houses for the kids for a couple hours and a bunch of people set up garage sale booths. Then at night there is a Demolition Derby. We'll go to the parade and the demo derby. I haven't been to a demo derby in a LONG time, so I'm looking forward to seeing some good crashes.

Oh, I forgot. One of those food vendor people usually show up selling corn dogs and lemon shake-ups! We may have to walk through to get some fair food.

Sound like fun. But it is a long drive...

Good morning / evening to all of this thread...

I`v recently booked a room in a coast line hotel, Southend on Sea is the destination, so i have my daft shorts, silly hat, notwithstanding the shades which are somehow gonna turn me into that ultimate of all pretender`s. ( I shall not )

Anyway i was going to ask the question, if any of you know someone that is going on the CAF cruise, i received an E mail yesterday. I was wondering if you were supposed to introduce yourself with your username or baffle em with reality.( hi i`m wolfgriyck, and who are you.........

I shall not be going.....------------------Although it does have a great appeal.

Urrrgh... man I hate it when I get sick (for two days in fact). Even now my head's still in a bit of a doozie.

Now getting sick is actually quite rare for me as it only happens around once or twice a year. Given my constitution, that's actually quite surprising. When I do get sick though, good Lord just yesterday I thought I nearly lost consciousness. The whole thing is just downright demoralizing.

I would love to go on that cruise... but alas, it's timing and distance is a bit too much for me to handle

The landscape continues to burn around here. Starting to get calls due to the significance of the fires. So far so good, but it is a small matter of luck (or a great deal of God's Grace) that we have not suffered the same fate as some of our neighbors. There are six wildfires around the Austin area right now. Pointing them out to my son's their reaction was "You mean that's not a cloud?" Well it is, but a smoke cloud.

Sending up prayers for the people of Texas and for you all to get the help you need. I saw posted on Abby Johnson's wall that they are looking for more firefighters to lend a hand.

Fires continue. Many "small" by the scale of the Bastrop one. We drive through there all the time. It will look ghostly different the next time I go. The park where the Scouts have their annual orienteering contest is mostly ash now. The fire, if I recall right, has extended 25 miles South from where it started. That might not be right but it did jump the Colorado River (NOT the same one that powers Hoover Dam). At least now they have a small "containment" value on the fire. It is still considered out of control.

Not sure how long this link will work, but here's some info on the size of this one. I don't think it is nearly as large as some we have had in Texas, but it sure is closer to us.

Meanwhile, in NYS, Kuryakyn starts treading water and looking around for the Ark...

Have a nice vacation. I think more people should wear silly hats. I wish I had a job that required a silly hat.

I don't know of anyone going on the cruise. I have met a few 'online' friends in real life and the first introduction is a bit awkward. I introduce myself by my real name and then my screen name.

I hope you feel better soon.

Yeah, I used to never get sick until I had kids and now they bring home their sicknesses from school.

I like to whine and moan a lot when I'm sick.
