In general, is wanting to learn something a proportionate reason for buying an anti-catholic book, or by buying the book, to accidentally spread anti-catholic ideas -everything being equal?

Does the rule change according to the importance of the thing you want to learn?

Oh yes, and how do we evaluate whether a person is a "good person" or not, for people have many things good about them (Hitler liked dogs and was better than communists) but should we not mention these qualities since they seem to distract from the general badness of the character? After all, if someone said, "the serial killer might've been bad but at least he was good with a butcher's knife" are we allowed to say that?
