Default Juventutem-traditional youths at WYD

http://www.juventutem.com/accueil-eng.php

A traditional delegation of youth at WYD. I, for one, am very pleased with its formation.

Hi Tim:

Well, I'm not actually attending, I just thought that I would post this. I faithfully attend the TLM, and in all honestly, doubt anyone would categorize me as "geeky." In fact, that's one adjective i've never heard about TLM attendees.

Anyway, the reason for so few Juventutem members is the same reason for the relatively few TLM attendees (compared to the normative masses): people simply don't know about it. Spread the word!

Also, you will always have the kids attending who will make it out to be a "Catholic Woodstock," if I dare put the two words together. In any case, I'm glad to see this particular delegation; it is sorely needed at a WYD, and it's too bad we aren't at a point yet where Benedict XVI would celebrate one mass in the Tridentine Rite. It would profoundly affect many, i'm certain.

Does anyone know of any financial help available to help people to go to WYD with Juventutem? I would really like to go, but I would need help(money)in orer to go. I am wondering if I could possibly be confirmed in Germany, since I am going to hopefully have my First Holy Communion in July.(I am a convert, 23 years old.)

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks.

Hi GoLatin,

Do you have a Parish youth group that is going to WYD? Or can you find another Parish in your area that may be going? A lot of times the youth groups hold fundraisers to help with the costs. I don't know if it's getting late but I would think some groups are still in the planning stages. I would think that your story as a new convert would endear people to you and they would want to try to help in some way. It's worth it to ask around for ideas. You can inquire at your rectory for example. Congratulations on your upcoming First Holy Communion! I'll pray that everything works out for you! (If not this WYD, maybe next time at the Vatican!)

I don't have a Parish youth group. I am 23 years old.

Since I want to go with Juventutem, the traditional group, there are probably no other people in my area who want to go with Juventutem.
I probably can't hold a fundraiser on my own. The IRS might get after me.
I have e-mailed people from various countries around the world. I still haven't gotten any financial help as of yet.
I need to get my passport within about a week, otherwise I will have to pay an expedited handling fee to get it quick.
Does anyone out there know of ANY WAY that I can get help to go?

I personally e-mailed one of the Bishops that is going to be there and he said that he could Confirm me there!

Now I just need to find the money to go!

Anyone out there who can help me?

That there is reason enough to go!! The traditional Confirmation ceremony is amazing.

Good luck. You are in my prayers.

that's always been a problem with being into your faith -most people you meet you wouldn't normally be friends with. i stopped caring about if the people are cool or not. at least we don't have to listen to terrible folk music or christian rock and hold hands and hug each other. i hate that stuff, it's like they want us to all act sensitive.

i don't know anyone who is going. i plan on going, though im pushing the age limit at 29 and i normally don't go to the tridentine mass. anyways, who is going here?

Hell dude I am 31 and I am going and I dont go to the tridentine mass very regularly! Yeah I suppose its not about being cool, but it does help to fellowship with people you can relate to. Yeah I hate the sentimental cheesy type of events and so I hope that Juventutem will be something different.

When I went to Toronto with my diocese, a lot of the young people just went for the social dimension so as to pull chicks and drink beer! It was a insult to our Lord, that a lot of the organisers of these type of groups dont make sure that the young people have a real opportunity to hear a proclamation of the gospel and also hear dynamic catechesis.

I am still trying to get the money to go to World Youth Day with Juventutem.

It is rather frustrating that so far I haven't been able to get the money, especially because Bishop Rifan has said that he can confirm me there!

Does anybody out there have any suggestion?

Thanks.

GoLatin:

Its short notice, but contact your local Knights of Columbus. Contact Opus Dei, Regnum Christi, Legionaries of Christ etc etc. Ask them for support. Contact your parish, your parents friends, your friends, even your bank! I could only afford to go as a volunteer, which is excellent for my finances, but unfortunate since I wanted to take part in the now infamous ecumenical discussions.

Work hard - it'd be great to hear that you're going!

PS - what is Juventutem?

The Juventutem members are well read catholics, not feely touchy. The women are modest, not tank tops, tight spandex shorts/pants, no cleavage, etc. They have reverance towards Christ and are not there to find a "nice boyfriend" or a "nice girlfriend" but to serve CHRIST. I admire them. These are the SMART CATHOLICS as I like to say. Continue the great job you guys are doing Juventutem!!!

Well, I tried so hard for about two and a half months to try and get the money to go to Juventutem, and it doesn't look like I will get to go.

What is especially sad, is that Bishop Rifan, one of my all-time heroes, was going to Confirm me there.

And I got a passport too!

Should I either:

A: Find the nearest and soonest Tridentine Confirmation Mass and sign up for it?

or

B: Find out when and if Bishop Rifan is coming to North America?(He has done that in the past.)

or

C. Wait until the next World Youth Day and go to it with the Juventutem group?

Please give me some input on this! Thanks everyone!
