I always love the Onion!

Do any of you recall the report from 2008 of the accident in the Vatican laundry? I nearly re-cracked my ribs laughing.

Arg!
I can't watch it.
For some reason I am unable to update my Adobe Flash Player. I think that's the problem.

It was funny, but not as funny as the Vatican Laundry accident!

Must have been the same teacher I had in a college course two years ago. She wanted to show us a feature of our computer programs, and had us look up the currency ratios between the US and another country. I forget what country she took, but she didn't know how to read the currency ratio.

For example, I will use the one I dealt with--West German Deutschmarks and US dollars.
The ratio was 1.50 DM : 1.00 USD.

The teacher said this proved how bad America was because the German money was worth more! I am the same age as this teacher (53 at the time), and I lived in Germany for 4 years, being paid in USD and having to spend in West German D-Marks, so I politely pointed this out to her. She said I was wrong. I tried to explain this a little more, and she still didn't get it.

I stayed after class to explain how it meant that one needed 1 mark and 50 pfennigs to "buy" 1 US dollar. She still didn't get it. She thought that if I gave her 100 pennies, and she gave me 150 German pfennigs that meant that the USD was worth less.

I gave up. But I was angry, because I was unemployed and she was teaching on a subject she knew nothing about.

I will give her credit, though. The next morning, she humbly apologized to me, in front of the class, explaining to the rest that she had been wrong, and I was right. I got an A in her class, which was Microsoft Excel. A friend of mine wasn't so lucky. He challenged a prof in college, while working on his masters, and even though my friend was right, and has since been vindicated in the scientific community, he was kicked out of that college at the time.

BTW having lived in Germany for those two years, we Yanks all learned that a klick equals a little over 1/2 mile, actually .06 miles.

A week ago there was a threatening message found written on a bathroom wall of my old high school. It said something along the lines of "I have picked march 1st... lots of people are going to die..." but the final line is what made me laugh "Satan has arosen [sic] again!"

Of course, it was investigated and found not to be a credible threat, but that last line doesn't reflect well on the English department!
