My Irish Mother subsituted English Men for children. No. Maybe it was let English Men and sleeping dogs lie. I think that was it. I don't think children were in there, Besides I don't think English Men lie unless they are sleeping like a lovable dog when that dog is sleeping.

Naw, Queen Mum Granny, you're thinking of "Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun."

It was my own Grammer who added in the children part to the sleeping dogs.

Hmmm....

That's odd. It looks like it happened last year as well.
Who came up with the 'once every 823 years' idea?
This is recycled from last year. Two of my e-mail contacts sent this to me on my birthday last year (October 15th), which quite annoyed me. I have been on a search and destroy mission against this MYTH ever since.

In fact, the next October with 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays will be in 2021. Before last year, the most recent one was in 2004. 823 years, my foot. :P

October of THIS year (2011) starts on a Saturday, so it will have 5 Saturdays, 5 Sundays and --- horrors! --- 5 Mondays!

The year 2012 will be unusual in that it will NOT have a month with 5 Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The next such month will be March 2013.

Bottom line: There are only 14 possible yearly calendars -- 7 leap year calendars and 7 non-leap. They all get reused regularly. It is not possible for one of them to occur only once every 823 years.

I'll try to be kind in my reply, Mr. Zoom. You missed the whole point--you were asked, ASKED, to Ignore This, Please! You didn't ignore this at all.

However, I will not dispute your study of the calendar. October happens to be a month that fascinates me, because of somebody I know who is born on October 12. So, I will be kind and explain the rules.

Firstly, you must Ignore This on This thread. You do not have to Ignore That (there is another thread just for ignoring That), you do not need to ignore the other, here, there, everywhere, space aliens, Queen Mums, Aussie horse float builders, Side Sewer Experts, or the man behind the curtain who makes fabulous signs. You should never ignore The Reginator, because he will bring all the moose in the world down upon you like "a thousand of brick" (to quote Rooster Cogburn in the original--and only--True Grit). You don't need to ignore who, what, where, when, or why here, either.

Secondly, we are really glad to meet you, because we are always looking for fresh meat!

We NEVER ignore each other, and we won't ignore you.

If everyone else is putting their BigFoot into their mouths--why not I? I attended a "healing" Mass by a wonderful priest called Fr.Augustine from the Divine Retreat Centre.Kerala,India.

Charismatic worship and spirituality is not from where I'am at,though I loved his preaching.A Glen LaRiva and Teresa ran the music part of the three hours of praise & worship which included a Rosary,Divine Mercy Chaplet.Mass & sermon followed by adoration of The Blessed Eucharist---so it was nicely Catholic(even though it had those "praise the Lord"parts!!)

I personally like tradition hymns at the Liturgy--but outside these times I can handle these nice songs of praise. When I came home I got on the internet and came across this beautiful song of praise that Glen wrote--here is the link--it sort of reflected my journey as a revert catholic, after my "hippy"days of wasted space in the universe!! This song is just so cool, man!(Praise The Lord!!)

here is Fr.Augustine--so you too will see what I mean about his preaching--he also backs his words with deeds!
