Default Lourdes Water?

Hi Folks!

Does anyone know how to get real water from either Lourdes or Fatima? I've found some links online, but people are mostly selling it at a high cost and that doesn't seem right to me. I thought holy water is not to be sold, rather one donates something in thanks for the water?

I only know how I got my vial. A person in my Parish went to Lourdes and brought it back for me. I didn't ask her to do so. I was so grateful to her for thinking of me.
I would hesitate to buy anything from te internet that claims a Holy source.
Just my humble opinion though.

Hello Slewi

The best way of getting it is probably asking someone if they are attending to visit lourdes and ask them to get them for you.

I remember bringing a few little bottles to various people when I went last year.

God Bless

Saint Andrew.

That is correct if you buy Holy water. When you get it it is no longer "Holy", it's just water. You may be able to write the shrine? Or you could just get some Holy water from your local parish church.

The Oblates offer free Lourdes Water and request a $3.00 donation to defray shipping costs.

As this is a special anniversary, many pilgrimage groups will go to Lourdes this year. The advice to have a someone bring you water back is a great idea!

If your Parish does not have a pilgrimage planned, check with your Diocese, they should be able to get you in touch with a group from your area.

Those websites mentioned earlier are rather expensive and if the water does have healing qualities wouldn't that be negated by the purchase? I mean 5 liters is $150 and another is over $200. I know a lot of places you purchase the vessel and the water is free...but paying $200 for a plastic jug? I think NOT!!

Isn't that a rip off?

Selling lourdes water for profit is not only unethical but it is also sinful.

I know that relics cannot be sold...I am not sure about sacramentals.

My wife was with an EWTN priest last year on a pilgrimmage and he said Lourdes water is NOT to be blessed.

no offense please

but some other poster gave us that link and all I can say is

"reasonable price my butt"

Holy water is supposed to be free otherwise it negates the purpose.

Paying to cover costs of postage and handling would be acceptable to me but anything over and above that would bother me unless I was making it as a free will offering.
