Re: Pregnant Mamas
Congrats to those whose little ones have appeared.
We are still waiting to meet our little one.... I'm so so eager to meet him / her!!
I haven't even had any signs that they could be arriving soon.....I have been booked in to be induced on 13th May if baby doesn't arrive before then, really hope to have as natural a birth as possible so hopefully the little one appears before then!!

Your little ones are close in age! Mine are pretty close, not as close as yours (mine are 15 to almost 19 mo apart), but (when they are not fighting lol) they really do enjoy having siblings close in age to play with and have fun! My son told me one of the highlights of his day is seeing his sister in the cafeteria (1st grade and Kinder overlap in the lunch hours at their school). Congratulations!

Thank you so much, your prayers really do mean a lot to me (and our boys are so close in age, just weeks apart! ). I am starting to get excited about the pregnancy, but I'm still overwhelmed with stress. Its just one thing after another. We had to take our kids to urgent care today over this really awful blistering rash they've developed this week and they couldn't figure out what it was, but sent us home with antibiotics (because its infected underneath the rash on my one son) and a referral to a dermatologist .

Re: Pregnant Mamas
Well my waters broke early this morning, still no contractions though.....
Been to assessment unit and been sent home to wait until tomorrow morning, at which point if there's no progress I need to be induced.
Can't believe this is it now!!! Hopefully natural labour will progress!!

Re: Pregnant Mamas
It's been two weeks and I just now got around to writing this up--I forgot how busy newborns keep you! Hope you enjoy my birth story. I delivered in a small Catholic hospital this time. My other two were born in a larger hospital, and I really prefered the smaller atmosphere. I think this hospital had all of 5 delivery rooms. This hospital did a lot of extras for me: plush bathrobe and slippers that I got to take home, complimentary tea time in the afternoon, having one nurse assigned to only take care of me, and TONS of little extras to take home with us. DH had so many bags leaving the hospital that it looked like we'd been living there for two weeks, lol!
Sunday morning I woke up and lost a small bit of my mucus plug. The rest of the day passed by uneventfully, although I was crampy and generally tired for most of the day. I had a hard time falling asleep and I started having regular contractions at about 1:45 Monday morning. I woke DH at about 2:30 and we headed to the hospital. On the drive over, my contractions were coming every two minutes or so, and DH and I figured we were in for the same type of 3 hour labor that we'd had with our last baby.
My nurse in the hospital was wonderful. She'd read my birth plan and was completely on board with giving me a more natural birth than the typical hospital birth. She stood up for me every step of the way and made sure that every nurse who came into the room had read my birth plan and agreed to adhere to it. She was the same nurse who was so excited to see my birth plan when I first toured the birthplace; I think she must have called dibs on me when I came into the hospital.
I was so disappointed when they checked me and I was only dilated to 4cm: I figured I was further along than that. I walked around the room and used the birthing ball for the next few hours. (The birthing ball was amazing, by the way!) My DH and my nurse were great with rubbing my back and my hands to help me cope with the pain, since I'd already decided against pain medication. I think it was a little after 8am when I was finally fully dilated.
The nurses brought in the squat bar for me to use while I was pushing and called in my doctor. I could tell when I figured out how to push again. I was thinking to myself that I must sound ridiculous--I was making this growling noise and figured I must sound like an Amazon on the war path. Baby came out right at 9am. The nurses immediately put him on my chest and he had his first feeding while I was getting cleaned/stitched up. They had to take a few extra precautions for me since I'm "high risk" for postpartum bleeding, but my doctor and nurses handled everything perfectly and I had no problems.
Baby came out with his hand next to his face, so I had a significant amount of tearing from that. DH was a bit annoyed at my doctor for injecting me with local anestethic, even after we both told him it doesn't work on me. I don't blame my doctor; I have yet to find a doctor or dentist who would take me on my word for that. A few shots later, my doctor finally gave in and just started stitching me up, while appologizing that he couldn't get me numb. And then asking how I make it through trips to the dentist.
Baby was more than two hours old before he had his first bath. It was so nice to just be able to enjoy our baby right away. Then he got weighed and bathed, and we all got moved to a bigger room to recover in. I had the same nurse during my recovery, and we all got a chance to have some great conversations together. She was a fallen away Catholic who is on her way back home. She asked DH and I lots of questions about our faith journey, and it was great to be able to have that type of conversation with her.
Congrats to all the new mommies! Glad to see that there are a few more pregnancies, too!
