I don't talk about it, but we're abstaining too, so it's been a bit over 5 months for us. To be honest I don't mind as I have no mood at all, but I feel like a bad wife at times since ultimately it's my choice that we abstain, and we're still fairly newlyweds. My husband understands, he doesn't feel ready for another one either, but I still feel bad at times. I started charting, but stopped since no pattern was showing. Basically I believe I'm still infertile, but since temp doesn't spike until after O, I just don't feel comfortable. And my cm is all over the place. Fertile looking at times and then not. So I'm here with you if it helps any

OK, so things are looking clearer for me today. Here's my updated chart. A little tiny bit of sticky CM today, though it always seems to show up in the evening for me after virtually nothing all day, so we'll see. I'm sorry, you ladies are probably sick of me asking every month, but I still don't feel totally confident without confirming it with more experienced people! If I'm figuring it correctly, CD 17 would be the first day counting back for my six temps, making the LTL 97.3 and HTL 97.7. This doesn't match up with CM though, so I don't know.
If I go by FF, I guess the LTL would be 97.0 and HTL would be 97.4 right?
Am I ever going to feel confident with this stuff?
|
Sorry I have been away from CAF for a few days. Belle, can you be more specific about your CM? When you say sticky, do you mean that there is little to no stretch to it? From your FF chart, it looks like the last time that you had truly fertile mucus (eggwhite) was on CD 11. Is that right? And, it looks like a thermal shift beginning on CD 16. In that case, the pre-shift six would be CD 10 - 15 with the LTL of 97.0 and HTL of 97.4. So, that would put you in Phase III beginning last night. Unless, of course, that CM you are describing is fertile (i.e. has stretchy, egg white quality to it).
AFM: AF is here. Bummer. I'm going to buy some LH ovulation strips. I've never done that before. Any of you ladies have suggestions for brands? I should read in the previous thread....I think it was talked about somewhere.

Sorry about AF. I've never used LH strips so I'm no help. Still praying for you and all the ladies here, whether TTC or TTA.
Yes, if I say sticky I mean there is no stretch. If it's stretchy, it's really stretchy so I mark it as eggwhite. Yesterday (CD 18) I had the teeny, tiniest bit of CM that was kind of watery and with a little stretch, but not eggwhite. Today I had the teeny, tiniest bit of CM that had lots of stretch, but since there was so little of it I don't know if I'd call it eggwhite or not. The rest of the day was nothing.
With this additional information, would you still give me the same assessment? And with the bit of fertile-looking CM today, I'd still need to wait three days right, even though O already happened?
Grrr. Why is this so easy for everyone else to figure out and so hard for me to get?

Jilly, a blogger I like to follow used this method by Dr. Jay Gordon to night wean her toddler. He doesn't recommend it for babies under 12 months (sorry Lil_M). It requires dad to get heavily involved in the nighttime parenting, at least during the transition.
Here's a link to the final blog post in the night-weaning series, which includes links to the whole night-weaning saga, if you're interested.

Re: Pregnant or not?
BrokenFortress, yep you described my situation to a T. We got pregnant SO easily twice that I am just terrified to chance it. Possibly ever since we may stop at 2 at least for a good long stretch. However, I did dig out my chart and re-read my manual and hopefully I will remember to start making observations again. I'm terrible at sleep training- I'm letting DD camp out at the boob half the night just so I can get some sleep Cause that's going to help fertility return!

Re: Pregnant or not?
Hi ladies, hope everyone is doing well!!
Have a little question. Though I haven't taken an NFP class, I have been trying to pay attention to all the things said on this post, in respect to ovulation signs, like cervical mucus. DH and I DTD yesterday morning and this morning I discovered what I think to be fertile mucus--it's the milky white stretchy stuff, correct? If this is indeed FM, should DH and I try again tonight? Or does the FM indicate that my ovulation has just passed? I feel like such a newb asking these things but you have all been so helpful in the past. Thank you!!

Re: Pregnant or not?
Oh I just remembered something else and it won't let me edit my previous post.
Since we are hoping to become pregnant, should I start taking prenatal vitamins now?
Thanks!

It is possible the substance you noticed this morning is fertile mucus, or it could be seminal residue. I always have that the day after BD. I've read that you can test it by dropping some in a cup of water, and if it dissolves, then it's semen, and if it stays together, it's mucus. That trick has never worked for me, but that may be because we use lube. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to try again tonight, if you're feeling so inclined. Fertile mucus shows up before ovulation, so it can keep the sperm alive until the egg pops out. And I would definitely recommend taking prenatals now, or at least a folic acid supplement.
ETA: If you can stand to swallow horse pills, I recommend Rainbow Light. They are food-based and easier on the stomach than many other brands of prenatals. They also have an option for taking multiple pills a day, which I assume are probably smaller than the one-a-day pills.

Thank you!!!!! Haha, DH doesn't really like to have anything "planned" but I'm sure he can be swayed
Oy, ever since I was a kid I've been *horrible* at taking pills. I have quite the gag reflex. I did see some gel-cap prenatals in the store the other day that I might be willing to try. I would rather fight 1 big pill down then struggle with a bunch of smaller ones lol.
Thank you again!!!

Many doctors recommend taking prematals for at least three months before getting pregnant. Since taking them doesn't hurt anything I'd start!

I would start taking the prenatals now. I found Target brand UP to be smaller than most prenatals and don't have a nasty smell associated with them (Which made me throw up a few times when I was pregnant with my first). Good luck.

Re: Pregnant or not?
yeah... does your little one not sleep super well either? Annamarie is going a stretch of waking 2x a night and I'm so exhausted. At least she's consistent, ha! She's been doing this since a newborn. For a newborn it was good, but for a 5 month old, it's getting old. I need more sleep. ahhhh

Re: Pregnant or not?
Hi, ladies! Who here is on Optivite? I started taking it at the beginning of this past cycle. I have had NO PMS, which is great. But then, instead of my 28-day cycle which I've had for the past three cycles, I am now on day 30 with no signs of a period. I did notice a huge amount of weird mucus, really thick and opaque. That was yesterday. Normally I am dry when I start a new cycle.
Has Optivite made anyone's very normal cycle longer?!
I should just test, but I am afraid if I do it will just be negative. And, my husband lost his job last week so I can't really afford to buy a test that's just going to be negative.
Thanks!

Hmm, I've taken Optivite in the past, but lately I've just been taking the Rainbow Light prenatals instead, since they're so much cheaper, and I don't have to swallow a ton of pills daily. Honestly, I didn't notice a difference in the length of my cycle, but I did notice a difference in my CM.
Are you charting your cycles? It's possible that you may be fertile now, if you had fertile-looking cm yesterday. Also, if you BD'd recently, it could be leftover seminal residue.
If you are charting, and are past your usual luteal phase length, then I would test. The tests at the dollar store are supposedly a decent quality, so you don't have to spend a ton of money.
